Any recommendations for tweaks/mods for that setup?

    I'm running an alienware 18

In the game elite dangerous on lowest settings it sometimes runs decently, but most of the time it runs like tar

I'm currently using extended mode and ive tried most options and guides I just dont understand why its not running smoothly

    I'm using 75refresh monitor

The occulus rift shouldn't matter versus your monitor I think...

But anyway, have you checked how the game runs normally? Without using the Occulus rift? And have you checked if it's using SLI too? I know the game runs decently on weaker hardware with some graphics turned down, but check all avenues and see what you come up with.
