Seeing as there are more laptops then just the M1530 that use the graphics card 8600 GT 256MB DDR3,
    I thought I would post a link here to a gaming-performance review.

As I wrote in the post, there are more laptops than M1530 who utilizes the 8600M GT card and since there is little to no chance that they would be scowering the Dell-forum in pursuit for performance tests (granted the search function, but there are loads of threads containing the related key words), I thought that this would be of help to them.

If I was mistaken, I apologize.

    very useful, thanks.

I think you should have taken averages though because it can be somewhat misleading. The Witcher would be in the very low 20s at max and you definitely need 30+ to play it comfortably. all the others are accurate imho.

Yeah having averages would defidently been better, but because of the time aspect and the ability to get others to post their results, I was not able to. I've added a remark regarding optimal game experience in the top text :)

Especially since the Witcher screenshot was taken at the frightener fight which is not very demanding even for my stock-clocked DDR2 card. A better comparison would be the swamp in the daytime in fair weather.

Thanks very much - as you say there is absolutely no way I'd have ever seen this if it was only in the Dell forum. Since this is where we talk about games and graphics performance, it seems perfectly appropriate to me.

Harleyquin, Have not had the time to run through all the games so I am certain that there may be better testing locations than the ones I have chosen.

    MrWhereItsAt, good to hear

Maybe the self proclaimed forum cops should look first before turning on the siren. ;)

Actually, the most interesting of those results to me is the Crysis one. Wihtou spending a lot of tedious time testing settings, changing them, retesting etc, the 8600M GT is at a point where you KNOW you can play at more than the minimum settings (and you want to push as far as you can - after all this card is intended for playing all current games at settings more than the bare minimum!), but not what really is best for graphics vs decent performance. I'd been working with 1280x800, tweaking settings and wondering whether I really had to go without medium shaders, which really makes things a LOT different.

If the res reported here gives you medium everything (certainly high should be possible for settings like physics) and looks good enough to play and marvel at the prettiness, then I'm rushing home now to see what the demo looks like! Maybe if it's good I will buy Crysis after all. :)
