Nice, just trying to install these now - lets see if they added support for the 4330 like I emailed them about a million times, or if I need to try to mod them manually again....

I hope to find a way to get 9.7 to work on Win 7 on the W90 since we have so much of an issue getting modded drivers for it on Vista.
-
Yeah, thats true, i believe theres a few crossfire features added/changes as well, and some more support for graphic switching etc.
I think i read that on 9.7 desktop drivers though. -
I wonder if ATI finally figured things out...
Hopefully they can keep pushing these out every couple of months. Driver updates is a huge concern for many of us (including myself) as we consider new systems. -
Thanks for the news!

those drivers can be used in mobility versions ? like 3870...? am trying to update drivers but i cant find a place or the way.
-
Yes, 9.7 drivers are the same for both desktop and mobility cards.
-
It should work right out of the box; are you using Windows 7?

Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
Im very pleased with 9.7. Ive noticed my temps dropped 3c. Performance is the same. Lower 3dmark06 scores but no actual real world performance drops.
-
Ahhh good to hear, have to try these ones out
-
You do realize ATI/AMD release drivers on a monthly basis like clockwork, usually mid-month? The last digit in the version release number equals the month. i.e. 9.7 with the '.7' = July.
-
You do realize this is their first driver release for mobile GPU's and this is a laptop community?
-
Sorry, I thought they offered Mobility Radeon drivers for a while now.
-
wait so how can i get the latest drivers using this??? Could you please tell me I need more fps
-
I DL them before and I have installed 9.5 that I obtained from that link. At the very least is their 3rd.
Edit:
Also for those curious:
It works for:
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_94C9
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_94C8
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9581
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9583
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3400 Series" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C4
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3430" = ati2mtag_M72, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_95C2
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9591
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9593
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3850" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9504
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3850 X2" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9506
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9508
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 X2" = ati2mtag_M76, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9509
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4670" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9488
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870" = ati2mtag_M9x8, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_945A -
ARGGG not 4570?
-
Nope, nor 4330. I've emailed AMD about this yet again, but am not honestly expecting an answer.
-
Well the original poster only included the 64 bit drivers. If someone cares about the 32bit drivers the link is:
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-32.aspx
If for whatever reason they ever move the site I got the link the first time via the old fashion way of going to
http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx
Selecting Win7-> 32 or 64 bit -> mobility -> 4000 series in my case
Finally I tried to install previous versions on Vista and failed but I'm not sure if 9.7 would work since I have not tried them (yet) on vista. -
Yea im having problems installing any other drivers other than the stock ones, wont work properly.
-
I just installed the drivers everything is running smooth i seem to have gotten at least 2-3 frames more off GTA: IV by the looks of it.....
-
Can these install straight-up on Dell machines?
-
First off let me admit that I don't know jack when it comes to downloading/modding drivers.
I just got a Sony FW490 with a Mobility 4650 in it, and its running with the stock, old, Sony driver. Just from Googling around on the subject I get the impression that these suck, and I'm trying to upgrade.
Could someone explain in more detail how to do this? From what I can see on AMD's website, there are no Mobility drivers for anything beyond the X*** series. This can't be correct? -
Yup it is. There are drivers, but AMD were not allowed to release them for mobile GPUs under Vista I believe. Therefore, that is where Mobility Modder comes into play, it's designed to take standard desktop drivers and modifies the files so they can be installed on notebooks.
However, it seems AMD / ATi are making drivers available for Windows 7 for notebooks. -
Gotcha, thanks man. I have Mobility Modder and the Catalyst 9.7 Software Suite both downloaded, but when I downloaded the Catalyst thing I went ahead and ran the .exe because I thought maybe there would be a new shiny driver waiting for me (sadly there was not). I see now that I should have hit 'cancel' after DL'ing the Catalyst. Now what should I do?
-
Follow the instructions at driverheaven.net; it's quite straight forward.
http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php
Scroll down the page a bit and you'll see installation instructions. -
You run the ATI setup so it extracts but you cancel the install since it will fail anyway. Then you run the DH Mobility Modder and point it to the ATI folder where the drivers were extracted. Once it's done it's thing you go to that folder and run setup. Should install without issue, may prompt you if you want install non-certified drivers or such, if so just say install anyway. I'm running the 9.7's on my Studio XPS 16, installed right over the top of the Dell package.
-
Ok, then should I also upgrade Catalyst Control Center? Or just the driver? I'm scurred and am just going to go with the driver...
-
Also, I didn't uninstall my old driver. Big problem or no?
-
Shouldn't be a problem to include CCC as well as the driver. It is always best to uninstall the existing driver and run a utility like Driver Sweeper to maker sure you removed all of it. May not be necessary though, I installed 9.7 (including CCC) right over the top of the Dell 8.6 driver, went without a hitch. If install does fail, then you know that you should uninstall the pre-existing drivers first.
-
Cool thanks buddy. I installed the 9.7 drivers (drivers only - no CCC) and they seemed to work. However, when I went back and played Americas Army 3 (the only game I have) I noticed it now freezes like half the time I launch a training mission. Before, with the old driver, it froze - but only one time. Do you think this could be related to the new driver? Though it does seem that a lot of people are having freezing problems with AA3.
Do you think its worth it to uninstall and use Driver Sweeper and reinstall? How do you go about uninstalling a driver...? -
Dont even use the modder. Its easy as hell to edit the drivers yourself. Just go into the .inf file and change the desktop version of the card to the mobility version.
for example, where it says:
"ATI Radeon HD 4650" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480
change it to:
"ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650" = ati2mtag_M9x, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9480
then the install works as if its meant for your card. This is how I installed the drivers for my card, although I'm only running 9.6.
