Hi everyone, I have a few questions about this type of graphics.
First of all, is the 9200M GE dedicated or not? Notebookcheck says that isn't, and that it just uses a lot of shared memory, but shops that sell laptops with the 9200M GE has 256mb dedicated.....
So could someone please say what this card is? It's confusing me....
Second, can this thing fail from the Nvidia overheating problems like the 8400 and 8600?
Finally, is it any good? I guess it won't be without dedicated memory but if it does have, would it play COD5 or Crysis?
Thanks,
Kolroc =)

Thanks for that Ramyk but it didn't really answer my questions.

Sure no problem. They said in the thread that it runs cool so there's the answer to whether it'll overheat. As for the gaming, they said Crysis will barely run at the lowest settings which isn't good 10FPS is noticably choppy. As for it being dedicated, If it's anything like my 9200m GS then yes it's dedicated. It's not a strong GPU mine barely runs all of the new games at the lowest settings...

Thankyou mate, sorry I snapped a bit before.

No problem

Is the 9200m Ge a dedicated card and different from the 9200m GS?
EDIT: It wont run Crysis and will barely run CoD5 -
barely run cod5? strange. cod5 uses a very very similar engine to cod4, and yet i can put mine to high on full res and get atleast 20fps.....
crysis is a no go for this card. first 3rd is almost fine, after that it all goes to pot. -

One way or another, as noted, this isn't the card to have for gaming. The only reason to have one of the lower-end dedicated cards is to get HDMI out capability and have smoother high-def/Blu-ray video playback. In those two instances, especially the latter since it will handle most or all of the decoding, a dedicated GPU will really help you out. -

Same default clocks as my 9200M GS with GDDR2.
Something else to look out for Kolroc is the memory type used with the GPU, for instance with the 9200M GS some notebooks have 400MHz GDDR2 and others 700MHz GDDR3.
Also with my 9200M GS, GPU-z (0.3.1) and GPU Caps Viewer (1.6.0) report 16 unified shaders, AFAIK the 9200M GS has 8. I would guess that the same would be so for the GE. -

This is wierd, I've never seen a mobile nVidia card with GE at the begining, I assume if its not exactly the same as the GS then it will be weaker. -

They are used in hp's new notebooks...

Thanks for that everyone, and it's HP's new laptops that I'm interested in.

Older games like Dawn of War: Dark Crusade should run very well then?
And how is this compared to a 8400GS or 8600GS? -
I dont know how much weaker the 9200GE is to the 9200GS but I think its a tiny bit weaker than the 8400GS and a lot weaker than the 8600GS.
Hope this helps -
i get stable 30+ fps in dow demo. all high 1440*900 no oc.

Just a quick update, I found this review of a Compaq with a 9200M GE
http://www.sceltanotebook.it/index.php/compaq-presario-cq60-103el-recensione.html
The 3dmark06 seems to be about the same as the GS. Seems the meaning of GE still remains a mystery. -
Compaq: CPU 2Ghz dual, 9200M Ge DDR2 get 1719
Q210: CPU 2.1GHz dual, 9200M GS DDR3 gets ~2000
They both have the same core clock @529MHz
I think they're the same card really
9200m Ge??
