    Guys,

i checked out a great offer on ASUS g1..it was going at a very decent price but but but...the graphic card is 9500M GS?

now in raw Gaming performance ..is it better than 8600m GT?

I doubt but can u tell how bad is it for playing COD4

Best check if the 9500m GS has GDDR3 memory like the old G1S 8600, otherwise you're losing out on performance.

    No, it's the same physical card. It's still a 80nm G84M. There is the future 9600M GS that is a 65nm 9500M GS and a 9600M GT that is a 65nm 9650M GS (8700M GT)

From what I have been able to tell the 9500m gs runs cooler and doesn't have all of the stuttering issues of the 8600m. Does just fine with COD4 (max settings at 1280x800). It is still a pretty warm running card though.

So the 9500M GS is just a better optimized 8600M GT?

They might have played with the voltage/amperage though. The next-gen 65nm revision should be way cooler though. I heard that in the M15x, the 8800M GTX runs cooler than the 8700M GT

The DDR2 9500m GS in the G1SN performs worse graphically than the GDDR3 8600m GT in the G1S.

    Wait...what? The 9500M GS isn't even a die-shrink?!?

The G1Sn is arguably a downgrade from the G1S.

While the 9500M GS is a die-shrink of the 8600M GT, it's the DDR2 version, not the GDDR3 version.

As a result, the G1Sn has slightly poorer graphic card, but better processors (Penryn).

That said, the G1Sn is going for a pretty decent price at the fair. Another option you can check out is the BenQ X31.
