Hi, I have noticed that I sometimes get artifacts after playing guild wars for a while, and sometimes I have to restart the system to get rid of it. Other times the graphics in guild wars just gets kinda messed and I have to restart the game.
My system is an acer 6920, with a 9500M GS
The temps are usually around 61-63C and I've never seen it go any higher than 64C before.

However, I've never noticed anything like this while playing CS 1.6 (I've been playing this much longer too).

Is this a hardware problem? Or could it possibly be just a problem with guild wars.

Could be Guild Wars, but since the 9500M GS is based on the G84 core that has the thermal bump issue...this could be bad. Wait to see if it spreads to other games.

Do you OC? Artifacts is a sign of instability. Try stress testing it.

what are the chances that it's a driver compatability program with GW?
i played quite a lot of TF2 during the free weekend with absolutely no problems...

I'm using 179.48 right now... has there been any problems with that set of drivers?

If no other games have issue, then the issue is definitely with guild wars and not the video card.

    I random guesses,

    1. GW is not stable yet and is buggy.

    2. Maybe you should try forceware 185.85 instead of 179.48?

    3. Your graphic card do not maximum its performance to 475/950/400 while you are playing GW.

Question, your graphic card temperature only raise to 64C(max) while playing TF2?

hi i also have 9500gs and play guild wars a lot (no OC).

in my experience the artifacts are not form overheat, since I monitor the temps constantly with rivatuner, and its a guild wars only issue, since all my other games play fine.

the artifacts depend on the gpu drivers ure useing. u should switch. and sometimes the latest ones still give trouble.

find an stable version and game on

You have a very nice temperature while playing 3D intense games compared to me.

I have 69-71C while playing 3D intense games, such as GRID, COD4, Left4Dead and so on.
After overclocking, I have 73-75C while playing 3D intense games. LOL.

upgraded to 185.85, i think the problem is still there...i give up...
i think i've figured out a way to prevent the problem though
usually when its about to happen, the game screen will start flickering and such,
if i alt-tab out of the game real fast, and then go back in, it usually prevents it from happening
if i exit the game, the problem doesnt occur either

I had a problem that sounds like this with my 9500m GS.

How I 'fixed it' was to install XP. I tried a huge variety of fixes over the course of 9 months, but nothing worked with Vista.

yeah i searched a bit on the GW forums, looks like the problem is with vista
i don't really feel like switching to XP, so i guess i'll just have to live with alt-tabbing a lot
