Ever since I've gotten my laptop there have been certain games where the GPU would randomly downclock and cut performance in half as well as introduce artifacts. At first I thought it could be due to temperatures, but because my temperatures never rose above 76C, that possibility was scratched out. The problem really detracted from the overall experience.
After several months of searching for a solution, I decided to see if the problem was Vista only and booted XP. I've been gaming for two weeks now with the bug-susceptible games (Vegas 2 and Dead Space) and have yet to see a single crash (before the problem would occur every 15 minutes or so).
I know that there have been several threads with people complaining about their 9500m GS downclocking and thought to post this solution, even though it is slightly extreme for a 'small' issue.
Let me know if this works for anyone else!

Did you try disabling powermizer through the "powermizer switch" program or by editing your registry manually to disable it?

You should have ask here... lol

Powermizer didn't work, I used both the registry editor and the GUI.
There were already 3 or 4 posts on the subject
I made the first post in May and it was never solved. -
i have a hd3650 and in dead space i sometimes also get fps drops randomly
doubt its heat, too much hassle to get xp
maybe dead space has some frame rate drop issues?
