Is this normal? I mean nothing is running where the video card should be doing 100% anyway, yet even upon start up it runs at 100%.

I had this problem when I tried both Dox's Alternate drivers and the official nVidia laptop drivers. I've set the power settings in windows to laptop/portable so my CPU clock speed does drop, but the GPU stays at 100%.

The odd thing is that when I do nothing its at a 57-60 degree temperate. Yet when I run a graphical intensive program like CUDA or Farcry2 it pops up to 70~
Then when I go back to desktop it eventually drops to 60. All the while reporting 100% GPU clock speeds.

I'm sure my GPU card used to stepdown to a lower frequency when its not needed?

Search for the topic on enabling/disabling power mizer. It's somewhere around this forum :D.

But its already enabled on nVidia control?
Doesn't make sense to disable it since that would be 100% all the time even when on battery power?

EDIT: Ok this is rather crap. It doesn't seem to work. I went to Battery supply and the clock speed wasn't limited!

The originals one made my 8600m Gt do that too. I had to switch to the DOX one for the clocks to behave normally. Have you tried using other drivers?
