I am interested in getting the Dell XPS1530 with the 8600GT 256MB, but not sure if this is DDR3 or DDR2.

If the 8600GT has DDR3, would it be equal or close to a 9600GT with DDR2?

Or is ths 9600GT just way better than the 8600GT regardless?

I am just looking to get a notebook that I can do some gaming on and having a very hard time decising between these two.

The XPS15300 is ddr3, and to compare a 8600mGT ddr3 will be about on par with a 9600mGT ddr2. Whether its better or not does not matter as the difference in performance will be too slight.

Thanks, I think I will go with the XPS then. I get a nice military discount and it seems to be better quality as well as a better company then the other ones I been scanning over.
