Just saw asus m50sv with T9300 and 9500m for $999.
also can notebooks with T series cpu replace cpu with P series?

There are more manufacturers with a 9600M GT in their notebook, but the 9600M GT in the Zepto has DDR3.

You can probably get the dv5t for around $1000 with the 9600m GT ... but I heard that the one in the dv5t is really more like a 9600m GS instead of a GT.

The closest i seen is dv7t at 999€ (euros not usd) but it's in a shop. You might get it cheaper online.

Yep, the 9600M GT DDR2 in the HP Dv5t and Dv7 scores around 4500 in 3dmark06, while a 9600M GS found in the ASUS M50Vm scores around 4400 in 3dmark06.

The SAGER NP2096/Compal JHL90 has a 9600m GT DDR2, and starts at $981.64 USD (including cash discount) from XoticPC.

Will this card be sufficient to play most games on decent settings? Or should I go with the 9700M GT? The 9700M GT is basically the same card with higher clocks so I don't know if this will be a significant enough performance increase for me to pay a few hundreds more.

That benchmark doesn't work. The 9600M GT/8600M in there have 1024x768 scores while the 2600XT has a 1280x1024 score.

I spend so much time here that I know every card's scores lol. The 9700M GT scores ~5,500 at 1280x1024 for instance, so it's impossible that a stock clocked 9600M GT scores 5,700.

They may not be at 1024x768 (I think they are too low for that), but something's not definitely not right about them. A GDDR3 8600M GT used to score arround 3,800. I don't believe the difference between let's say, a T7500 and a T9300 is big enough for a 500 points difference. 3,300 for a Radeon HD2600 is high too, should be arround 2,900 IIRC.

EDIT: According to notebookcheck, 5700 is the 1280x800 score, 1280x1024 is 5200.

All those scores are right for 1280x800 imo.
