Would one of the owner's lounges have benchmarks of either or both system setups... I haven't been able to find any.

Is it worth splurging (+$300) for a 980m/6700K? About the only game I'll be playing is SW Battlefront. Right now my 560m/2630QM is getting me 28-30 FPS with everything turned to Low/Off.

The 970m would do you fine. I'd go for the 980m is your going to buy a laptop with a unupgradable soldered GPU.

Go for the 970M, as it is upgradeable. Then put a 1070M or 1080M in there when they come out.

I wouldn't assume anything at that point. I'd expect 980M to be the highest possible upgrade and be pleasantly surprised if Pascal uses MXM, fits, and works.

Agreed on the 970M with 6700K though, especially for that game which hammers the CPU.

For me it is a tough decision, but I might be inclined for the 6820hk with 980m :)

Unless I could get a better GPU with 6700k!

Well I don't mind going with a 6700K and 980m, but then what's stopping me from upgrading from that to a full blown GTX 980? Once they are available of course.

Is a full blown 980 (non-m) is twice as powerful as a 970m?

No, and you can't upgrade to that 980 because the socket is different.

There's a high chance Pascal will support MXM. Why would Clevo make laptops that can't support new GPU's and only support old ones?

Which 980 is that? Clevo has 3, potentially 4, different versions. And they are MXM-B slot, just the board shape is non-standard.

If you go with the P870DM or the P775DM you can get the 6700K with the desktop class 980. It sits inbetween the 970M SLI and 980M SLI in pricing. Early reports show the 980 to be a crazy overclocker... Might be worth the wait. Its highly unlikely that you'll be able to get an aftermarket upgrade to the 980 at a decent price later on.
