Hi guys. I am facing a big issue.
SHort story. Had a 780dxr upgraded with a 970m MSI. Everything worked perfectly.
Just got a GT70 ivy bridge barebone wich had what appeared a dead graphic card. I mean, the pc was booting alright, but no screen at all ( i could hear the sound of windows welcome but still no screen ).
I tried my 970m inside, same stuff.
I then put back my 970m inside my 780dxr, and now the same thing happens. I hear the sound of windows, i can see hard drive working, but no screen at all. I tried pluging an external screen on hdmi and vga, and nothing again. Just the sound of windows.

I really don't understand where it could come from. My 780dxr has no igp so the graphic card seems to be recognized. Could it be because i pluged my card in a optimus computer ? Vbios problem ? But why in this case do i hear the windows welcome sound ?
If i could try to flash the vbios with an original msi vbios, could it work ?

Need help it's driving me crazy !

    Ty in advance.

Boot safe mode and reinstall the graphics driver.

I can't do that, the screen won't even light up. No acces of bios or anything :s
I'm pretty sure the problem doesn't come from drivers. Otherwise i could at least see bootscreen and go into bios.

Windows 10. I just tried win another hard drive wich has w7.
But again i really don't think this is an OS problem related, as i can hear the sound of windows with both w10 and 7.

It could be a faulty barebone GT70 MXM slot, since you said the 970M doesn't work after inserting it in there. You must make sure though...

i guess it could be that. That was my first thought. But could it actuallyt screw up my 970m, and still it can boot unto windows without showing anything on my screen ?

If the faulty slot causes the GPU to fry once inserted and turned on, yes, the GPU could stop working. Have you heard/smelled anything suspicious when you turned the barebone on with the GTX970M?

No i didn't. And the strange part is after putting back the 970m in my 780dxr and turned it on, as i said i heard the sound of windows, and moreover the heat coming from my gpu was as usual ( putting my hands on the heatsink ).
While blind screen, i could even launch a movie with an external keyboard shortcut and i had the sound of it.
SO question : could a part of the gpu be dead, and still the computer could start windows ?

OS shouldn't matter for whether he can see the BIOS or not.

@OP: It's possible it's faulty, where did you buy it from? Are you sure it's an MSI 970m and not a Clevo or some other sort of 970m?
