So i have my 970m 6gb in my m17x R4 laptop, and i have achieved +200 core with a +37mv increase, so i wanted to do afew benchmarks to see what this card can do, and it seems if i go over 200 core (and voltage to +50mv it just will downclock from lets say 1ghz to 700mhz out of nowhere When anything under 200 will stay at the constant max clock speed, and i have a high feeling the 970m can go over 200 core.. i mean im on the prema mod bios, why would these volt increased bioses exist to OC with voltage controllable so high. I even tried +65mv and it still did the same thing.. Even when playing gta V which @ 1600x900 i should be able to max out 60fps non stop, will drop to 30fps in some parts of the map, im on driver 358.91.

It's a problem with the legacy Alienware machines, as far as I know. I don't believe it's fixable without a BIOS update, which only as I know happened to the Alienware 18.

Hmm.. So it will be impossible to go any higher..

So there is nothing i can do? i just feel restrricted here knowing it can go higher...

prema set the voltage as it is the average voltage across all clevo cards for that model.

What i mean is i feel restricted for the core clock, anything over +200 core just will throttle/downclock during benchmarks, i know the 970m should go higher. -
Saw your PM... The big problem is the driver... The new drivers have random throttling.. Let's start with 353.00 and play with that.. Start there and go for 353.06 and then 355.82... Those drivers have worked for me...Your throttling problems might be due to your PSU... Is it a 180W or a 240W one? You need a 240W one..i_pk_pjers_i likes this.

No, not all 970Ms are the same and they don't clock the same. Just because one person can clock it +200 doesn't mean yours will and it's probably throttling because it can't handle it.

I have a 240W psu, so just install the modded versions of the drivers you listed above? And if one dosent throttle can i update to the newer ones you listed above and see if they wont throttle aswell? Or if a driver is working fine right now just leave it? Im just thinking games wont run as good if they are meant for a newer driver. -

So i looked here http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ and i could not find driver 353.00 or 353.06 so i am trying the latest one you recommended so far, 355.82
970m throttling with OC?
