oooooooo it wasn't a rumour
awesome
can uopgrade my baby further now -
i heard the Q-Core is supposed to be coming through alright
didn't hear about Centrino 2 though -

That's a darn good find. I hope it's not a fluke though. Thanks. I never knew this would happen.
My only concern now is... when will they add a Quad Core support for it + Centrino 2.
Dell Singapore is also offering the 9800M GTX/GT SLI options.

Well correct me if im wrong but Centrino 2 is based on the montevina platform where as the 1730 is based on the santa rosa platform so the only way to support centrino 2 would be with a compete new motherboard.

Marshall is correct on the quad-support. You can't just add a quad with a BIOS update unless the GM45/PM45 chipset is involved.

so what are the chances that it gonna come here in USA too?
xps m1730 price is going low real fast....
if the 9800m sli is coming to m1730 here in usa,...then it gonna boost the sale of m1730 again....but the processor is old now to match with 9800m..
I can see that the price for 9800m is like 800-900 more than 8800m...but it doesnot seem to worth it..... -
I see that the 9800m GTX SLI has a total of only 1 GB of GDDR3 memory. Isn't each one of these cards is supposed to have 1GB making a total of 2?
-
But the system won't take advantage of it as 2gig each card will just have the same data as the other making it essentially 1gig
-
...to insally expensive but thats great they are offering ...wait and see the actual new system of graphic cards the 9 seris is old bring out the gtx
lol

Seems like an okay price for a 9800M GTX in SLI upgrade. Still funny how they're actually CHARGING people for the 9800M GT in SLI
-
on a laptop, resolution is limited to 1920*1200, and 8800m gtx/9800m gt is not a particularly powerful card, so difference would be minimal. -
Meant to say that. Should have been clearer.
Basically SLI generally uses alternate frame rendering, which means that the GPUs take turns to render each frame. This means that the load is shared between each card (hence using 1 card memory at a time).
My bad, should have been clearer earlier. Is this updated explanation better? -

I wud rather love to stick with my 8800m...
no game gonna use 2 gb of video memory..... -
-

I just hope that it happens one day. I need a Quad to aid my 3D rendering needs. -

Hope DELL continues to beat of Alienware even if its is his brother.
-
$200 upgrade for the 9800 over the 8800. That kind of deception should be illegal.
-
Although 8800M GTX and 9800M GT are essentially the same card, can anyone confirm the running temps? Are they also exact or has Nvidia made some modifications?

Well actually there is a plus... 9800gt comes with 1gb whilst 8800gtx only has 512 -
To be fair, Australian dollar is fair bit weaker than USD.

same in the UK
