    Hi All,

in the graphic setting page i can't choose Texture quality to high @ 1680*1050

Also, I was not allow to choose 1920*1200, what's going on?? +_+

    I am using my NP9262, 9800M GT SLI, Q9550.

    I can't believe that, even with my laptop's config I can't run high quality setting @ 1920x1200 ?

p.s. I am using 180.84 beta downloaded from nZone, using the modded inf from laptop2go

(at the bottom of the graphic setting screen, it shows that I am using 43X/490MB of my memory, it that the reason i can't push to 1920*1200?)

No need to get touchy bud...I saw the first release of the article with no comments and as I do not have a SLI system, there is no reason for me to attempt it.

Gta 4 is the worst optimized game....
No SLI support and the drivers out there are uselesss...
Better wait for official patch..and 9800m gt and 8800m gtx are twins...
so if it doesnot run nicely on 8800 means same to 9800...

as the guys said, SLI is still not supported, and IMO, the next patch SHOULD cut the Vram usage into Half, otherwise this sucks :D

Nice I had my doubts first when I read so much trouble with ATI getting the game to run good. But it surely does.

However better yet is to mention how the game runs instead of that benchmark which actually is totally useless. Since the average there is much higher than what the game actually runs at.

so this is your desktop system right? and that 38 fps is a benchmark right? so what do you get running around town?

my laptop seems to be beating your desktop card. in single card and dual card mode. you sure it's working? and my gtx280 card is netting quite a few frames more. but then...im running it in dx10 mode and windows vista not xp. ...is that probably why?

It shouldn´t matter if you run it in Vista, since GTA IV does not use DX10 at all only DX9.

Yeah I wondered that too. That switch does not do anything. Someone must have gotten it from Crysis simple as that and thought GTA IV used the same switch.

Reading interviews with Rockstar they said they coded the game in DX9.

maybe why all the issues...they didn't have time to code it in dx10.... (speculation of course)

    Max: 56
    Avg: 39.233

That's from starting in my apartment and driving around town, crashing cars, etc, until the timed benchmark ran out.

I also agree that my card should be performing much better. I'm thinking of unloading my month old HD 4850 (If I can find a buyer on Craigslist for $120) and buying a GTX 260 since they're going EOL in the $180 range now, and are good for massive overclocks and have good cooling.

hold that thought. grab the gtx260 x2.(aka GTX295) well worth it im thinking. i paid $450.00 for my gtx280

get your self 2 of those babies and watch crysis fold under at 2500 res..wooohooo!

I don't do enough heavy gaming to make it worthwhile -- plus I don't want to sink that kind of money into a previous-gen build with i7 coming mainstream.

Plus my monitor is only 1680x1050 so I don't have a need for it. And my PSU is a 500W, a quality 500W, but not enough for much more than a single card.

ummm, that's what the i7's are running (depending on who you know) or will run.gtx260x2/55nm is slated to be faster than the 4870x2 at the same price. (speculation of course) (also read it somewhere ) and your 500w power supply will run it as well.... unless of course that's the 15 dollar 500 watt one. then no. it will not run it for long. and if your really not into gaming, might as well save that money and stay with your 4850

I'm into gaming enough that I want a potent GPU, but I don't need bleeding edge technology. I wait for prices to drop so I get good deals. A lot of gamers throw around money for latest and greatest, I'm not that type.

My 500W is an OCZ StealthXStream so it's putting out quality power, 80-83% certified, so not $15 stuff. (Although I paid $23 for the PSU + 2 GB of RAM in a Newegg deal :p)
