Hello, I'm not particularly knowledgeable on this subject, but which card would be superior?

Oh, and I'm talking about the 65 NM and 1GB version of the 9800 gts.

Im not smarter than you when it comes to mobile cards.. but 65 NM in a notebook doesnt seem like a smart move.

I have a 9800m GS (1gb, like yours but core is at 530mhz not 600mhz though I can overclock to GTS speeds).

Anyway, the 9800m GTS is faster.
    The GT230m is a little better than a 9700M.

The 9800m is better in terms of performance. But the GT230m will use less power and run much cooler.

7811 has 512mb not 1GB of video memory.

    The 230M isn't even close.

If you need more pep, and you haven't done so already, overclock and overvolt the 9800M. You can get that puppy to 700mhz on the core.

If you're looking for an upgrade, try the Asus G73 or a desktop.

The ASUS G73JH is a desktop at least when it comes to size and power. :D

Wouldn't the GT230M be more like a 9650M GT, since it's an overclocked 9600M GT?

the 9700m is also an overclocked 9600m GT iirc.

But the GT230m has more shaders.

    9700M GTS is a 256-bit card with 48 shaders. It's much faster than any mid-range 200M card.

Well 9800M GTS should pwen GT230M... but like anothergeek said , get ASUS G73... It packs more power than an Alienware M17X with GTX260M SLI... and maybe GTX280M SLI and best of all it starts from $1400...
