About 20% difference in performance, but also depends on what you do. If you play game, go with the GTX.

Save the $500 and build yourself a desktop and enjoy the best of both.

Yeah the 9800M GTX has a 10-15% performance difference with the former 9800M GT and the 9800M GTS is perhaps a 5% difference with the GT version so it roughly adds up to 20%.

I'd save myself the 500$ without thinking twice.

So you can upgrade your desktop easily. I'd recommend ATI HD4870x2 . Actually you can save few bucks.

    BTW I don't know about the performance difference between 8800GTS & 9800M GTS :D

Your right, Blue Diamond. 8800 GTS and the 9800M GTS are similar in performance. Strictly due to the improved G92 core compared to the G80. If you have the money, Blue Diamond, I'd recommend the 9800M GTX. I have loved mine since day one. It does better than the 8800 GT and even the 8800 GTS (512 G92) in certain applications, especially when overclocked.

The 58 more stream processors of the GTX will go a long way in the future.

If you could afford it, I say go for it. Its something that will last you from quite some time of upgrading.

it rapes at TF2 so thats good enough for me, hehe. Crysis even runs decent. i used to be so anti-laptop and purely desktop fanatic... now im such a laptop fanatic that it scares me, so im done with upgrading my desktop, im barely home anyway.

I'd say just wait then...I saw post saying ATI next gen solution is around the corner. See how it perform & nVidia might drop their prices.

In the Desktop side ATI perfom better than nVidia, so I'd say wait :D

BTW I'm not a ATI or nVIDIA fanboy
