I know the desktop card isn't DX10.1, and I know that DX10.1 is only the changing of a few optional functions from DX10 to required, but is there any news on whether the high end 9 series mobile cards will support DX10.1? I'm guessing not, but I thought I'd at least ask.

im not sure, its nothing big but they should start supporting it, i know the ati card in my laptop right now is dx10.1, the 9800 will still use the g90 core so it may still be 10.0, so i thinking nothing will change dx wise till the g100's or whatever the next core coming out is

    Oh Jebus, Wiki.

Unlikely even the GT200 will have DX11 support, and after that it won't be the GF9xxx anymore.

Anywhoo, until further notice, I'd say the GF9800M will be DX10, and potentially any sons of GT200 might have something more (but unlikely DX11).

You'll probably have to wait for the 19000GTX for dx10.1 or dx11 support

Nvidia never said they`re moving to DX10.1
Heck, DX10 is not even properly used...don`t worry about it. Dx10 9800M is enough...

It`s been rumored to be pretty much the same as the 8800M GTX, still 96 SPs and on a smaller die, meaning less power draw...

What 2 buggers in one card?
Don`t mistake this for the GX 2 ,which is a totally different thing. I don`t thing a GX2 mobile will ever be offered.

AFAIK the M860TU from clevo offers 8800M GTX and the Go 9800 GTS, so for that laptop the 8800M GTX will still be the strongest.

"Will offer" is the correct term, since they aren`t on the market yet.
They might as well say they`ll offer the 9800M GTX ,since it`s all about marketing your image and exploiting the feeble minds :)

heh. Does anyone actually think DX10.1 is that important? I haven't heard anything of the sort. Still, having the extra little functionality isn't bad.

It's handy, and there's a TON of potential for performance and quality benefits, but it's not being fully exploited yet. And people don't care about pixel correct AA versus fast AA, especially on something like a laptop where performance is hard to come by.

Just like the GF6800 / X800 debate of old, I would only use it as a tie breaker where price/performance were equal for 2 of your options, because it's really going to be a limited application more future focused beyond this year.

Currently it's just nice for some demos, and the Assasin's creed patch.

Better IQ and performance is nice, but if it's only in 1 game and a few demos, is it worth basing a buying decision on?

That's why I mention the S3, rockin the DX10.1 for the entry-level as if it mattered. ;)

If the HD4K and GF9whatever are close in performance, it might be worth considering if you plan on gaming for over a year on that solution. But near term, won't matter too much, but if the HD4K significantly lags, I would simply get the GFwhatever and then play at reduced settings but with better performance.

so... you created a thread about an announced product, NOT because it was announced or there was news posted about it, but to ask a question?

    idiot.

Wow. And your comment is far more meaningful. Yes, I asked a question. And you are clearly right, as there are no other questions on this forum about anything, much less about anything that can be more easily researched than this.
