What is the price of the nvidia geforce 9800m gt. These are found in alienware's m15x laptops. Looking for retail price, because it is a 450 dollar upgrade on alienware's site.

its simply insane :p mostly considering that you are upgrading from 3870 which is only about 10% below the 9800 gt, dosent worth the upgrade. (for 450)

Well if there weren't people buying it then the product wouldn't exist or it would drop in price...

They should still be selling it, although the model has been replaced, I have yet to see the newer variants.

    GTS 250M (supposedly 40nm and GDDR5 on 128-bit) = GTX 170M (55nm, GDDR3/256-bit) = 9800M GT = 8800M GTX, the latter two being 65nm, GDDR3/256-bit

But all the same clocks and same performance...

the 9800gt has been discontinued and replaced by the 9800gts and now 260m so people can charge what they want as they are in short supply now.

GTX 260M (9800M GTX) has 112 shaders, 9800M GT has 96 shaders, 9800M GTS (GTS 160M) has 64 shaders. Might as well go for the GTX 260M then.

The 9800GTS was NOT the replacement for the 9800GT.

The 8800GTS was replaced by the 9800GTS.
The 8800GTX was replaced by the 9800GT.

The 9800GTS' and 9800GT's were just die shrinks and overclocked forms of their predecessors.
