The 9800m GT is equivalent to what desktop graphics card?

Specs-wise, the desktop equivalent would be the 9600 GSO, probably performance-wise as well.
-
laptop graphics cards are not really comparable to the desktop gpu's.
Usually the mobile gpu's have stripped down cores, with many less pipelines, shaders, and lower clocks.
The 9800mGT is probably more comparable to a desktop 8600GT

I already know it is better than the 8600gt, I havethat card in my desktop.

Hey steven, here is a chart of 8xxx series desktop cards, if you're interested. -
the 9800M GT (or 8800M GTX) is a high-end G92 videocard.
the desktop equivalent (performance wise) will probably be a slower version G92 card like 8800 GT or a faster G80 card like 8800 GTS (320MB or 640MB versions)
A 9800M GTX (and Quadro 3700M) will perform close to the desktop 8800 GT (G92) -

Great, Thx Kev and Gophn, that is what I was wondering. +rep

I thought I read somewhere that the 8800M GTS is equivalent to a 9600 GT desktop card which I also believe uses 256bit Memory bus, so I would think that the 9800M GT would be around the same or a tad better. Hope this helps. God Bless

Even the 9800M GTX is slower than the Desktop 8800 GT. GPU's real performance is measured in its theoretical shader processing power which is measured in Gigaflops. So from wiki:
9800M GTX--420 Gflops
9800M GT--- 360 Gflops
If we look at their comparative desktop cards' performance:
9600 GT--- 312 Gflops
9800 GT--- 504-576 Gflops depending on factory OCed.
8800 GT--- 504 Gflops
.........................
.........................
GTX 280--- 933 Gflops(lol notebooks will need another 10 years to get that power) -
I'm willing to bet in another two years that laptop GPUs will be capable of as much processing power as the GTX 280...

9800m GT = ?
