Someone found this on VR-Zone in the XPS M1730 thread, think it was Duane.

Doesn't really reveal much. I could have told you years ago that after the 8-series, the 9-series will come out.
-
But...But...
Lithus, are you some sort of Oracle or Seer?
-
however i can tell you that the 10 series will come after the 9 series
-

Ten-Eighty-Eight-Hundred Gee-Tee-Ex doesn't really roll of the tongue as well as Ninety-Eight-Hundred Gee-Tee-Ex.
They may go the same route ATI did, once they hit 10000 they revert back to sub 1000 with some sort of added prefix. -

lets just hope they don't try anything like "fx" again.
anyone remember what happened last time they tried fx?
geforce 5 series... *shudder* -
LOL, I don't think the FX prefix is what caused the major suckage.
-
Hmm I wonder if the 9800m GTX will have 128 shaders as opposed to the 96 of the 8800m GTX.
-
Dude , my brother still uses his desktop FX 5200 OCed out of its pants and still plays WOW and Heroes 5 decently. So please stock making a mockory of his pathetic excuse for a life card
-
when the hell is the 9600m GT DDR3 coming?? That's what I'm waiting for...9800 won't fit in a 15.4 notebook.
-
By the way, what is g92, g94, g96, g98? Sorry if it's a dumb question but I am not familiar with that. As I understand it's the size of the core right? Does this have anything to do with reducing the size of the GPU so that we may see higher end graphics cards in 15.4" notebooks?
-
They are different core models which the graphics cards are based on. The size of the core does not get smaller in sequence, you will have to read up on the individual specs of each graphics core if you want to find out if 15.4" laptops will get the 9-series equivalent of the 8800m GTX.
-
Well, Sager anounced a 15.4 incher with the 9800m GTX, i would think that alienware will get it into their m15x or follow up model
-
Maybe, maybe not. It`s a toss right now, everyone is guessing and all. The most considerable fact is that the 9th series seem to be mostly refreshed 8th series, and that just might be enough for the 9th series to work in 15 inchers,be it mainstream or high end gpus.

They'll start going by colors!

We should have a vote to name nVidia's next line.
On the more serious side, I wish that both ATI and nVidia, along with the respective card makers stop touting VRAM as much as they do. It's absolutely misleading to the average consumer when they see "256 or 512" emblazoned on the front of the box and think that this number indicates performance. -
-
-
How about numbering the cards based on the average FPS they get in Crysis at very high?
-
)
-
X800...
X1800...
And then forget about it, and roll back to 2900 -
Nvidia Alpha 4, 6, 8,
Nvidia Bravo 3, 5, 7, 9
Nvidia Charlie 2, 5, 8...
about a century worth of names for them to run through -
X=10 (roman versus arabic nombers)
-
I posted something about nVidia names once... darn it... it was really good too...
I believe they will just follow with prefixes or something totally idiotic
nVidia K1000
nVidia 1K500
nVidia 8K400
Or what I think would be easy but COMPLETELY confusing something along the lines of
nVidia omega
nVidia alpha
nVidia genesis
nVidia liquid
aaah... forget it... we will see later on
YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME... ugh... I spent a couple minutes typing this post ... and then I find out everyone already mentioned what I just said... :O !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Doesn`t that make you a troll then? Stop posting BS will you just for the heck of it.
-
Want to confuse your customers? Name your cards...not what you think, actually name your cards.
nVidia Mike
nVidia Bob
nVidia Steve
etc... -
My money is on Bob. Bob GTX will have at least 256 SP and moast definitely need less power than Steve GTS.
So you guys figure the 9800M GTX will be any better than the 8800M GTX performance wise? 5-10% maybe? -
eleron probably just a higher clocked 8800m GTX that they will name 9800m GTX. Or they just add more SP´s to 128 instead that would be something.
-
Well if it goes in the line of 8600M GT versus 8700M GT I wouldn`t mind
-
MAYYYBE actually increase the SP's because its a GTX with one whole series step up...
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! every time I put a post its what the person above me or so says... ugh... lol -
Beatsiz, don`t immitate, inovate.you copy cat.
-
Thank you, I swear I didnt see the post, because I just replied/wrote one when I read a post but once it arrives it switches to the next page and there I discover who wrote what... anyways...
Yeah Dont imitate, innovate -
No problem Beatsiz I can do the same mistake too, been there done that
Although the desktop 9800GTX isn´t that the same core G92 as the 8800GTS 512? I think so.
-
Who cares... the only thing we need right now is GTA4 for PC, 9800GX2 sli for laptops and quad core mobile chips for under $500And were set for 1 year without complaints (and please throw in some amazing drivers in too
)
-
I'm not sure there will be a geforce 10, they will probably change the naming conventioin like ati did... Imagine saying GF 16500 GS... That just doesn't sound right.

I'm waiting for scientific notation for video card naming - the geforce 1.2e4GTX (12000) is coming in 2013!
Also, the 9800gtx is actually based off of a new core unlike the 9500gs and 9300 which are based off of existing architecture. So far they are the only two that are set to follow that trend. -
Geforce 1337 ULTRA GX4!
-
i reckon they shud do it in primes just to take the piss
first card will be nvidia P2,
then P3, and so on, until u have stupid stuff like
NVIDIA P147 GTX -
Well the already started using old radeons name so what not continue? Geforce x800 gtx
-
Why are you guys talking about what the next GeForce series is gonna be, forgive me if I didn't notice if someone said it but the next series has been released and it's the 200 series....
-
Errr... maybe because this was a thread from April.
-
Woot Necro Threads!!
-
Ah, the high hopes that were once had for the GTX, and look how that turned out. Nvidia completely took the mick with the high end of the mobile 9-series.

EDIT: Nirvana, I just had to mention your new avatar freaks me out. -
-
Oh how come people dig back in the threads 5 months back to just revive the thread. Strangely mostly noobs doing it.
-
Hey, isn't that better than someone starting a new thread about it, when one already exists..? In fact, I'm pretty sure forum admins and the like recommend one looks for old threads for info and discussions rather than blithely starting new ones.
