We have all been waiting for the full release of the 9000-Series GeForce GPUs, and with the release( finally) of the 9800m GTX, this series is now complete..aside from the GTX SLI, of course. Hopefully we can come together and share our own personal experiences, results, driver compatabilities, and benchies. There seems to be a lack of real world results readily available, in one single thread, for the new series.. so let's get started!
I know that most people refer to Notebookcheck.net for results, benchmarks, and information regarding current and upcoming GPUs. However, they're not always the most reliable source for accurate real world results. While there are different opinions on which benchmarks provide the best " artificial" results..whether it be 3dmark03 for GPU testing, Vantage for a more "balanced" benchmark, or 3dmark06 for the global comparisons we've become accustomed to.. I'm sure we can all agree that these benchmarks speak for themselves when it comes to accurate performance comparisons on the most basic level.
Recommended structure to post results:
Notebook Vendor/Manufacturer and Series
GPU w/stock clocks for best comparisons - If OC'd, please post results seperately.
Video Driver
CPU
RAM - Type and Amount - Latency? Speed?
Operating System
Type of benchmarks completed and results(3dmark06, Vantage, Freestone, Crysis, etc)
Please, feel free to post screen shots..links to results..or any additional information that you think may be useful to other members that share our same interests.
Link you may find useful:
http://freestone-group.com/video-card-stability-test/ - This is the FreeStone GPU benchmark & stability test.. I've found that it is very GPU intensive, however CPU has almost no bearing on the results of the benchmark. 3 minute benchmark, and one hell of an intense stability test.
I'll keep your results organized here in the Original Post for quick, and easy access.

I think it would be good also to compare the 8 to 9 seires, like my 8800m GTS to your 9800m GTS, our laptops are almost equal in ever sense, minus the stock clocks of your CPU and GPU and maybe the RAM.
-
-
-
I think this thread is gonna sink quick. How much similar threads we had already? 200?
-
-
I said almost. jeeeze you guys jumped on that quick, if you properly read a post onece in your life we wouldnt be arguing about something quite so stupid, now would we. Your CPU is clocked higher, yes, and your ram is faster, but thats not going to affect gaming benchmarks at all unless they are RTS's, so they are almost equal in that sense. That way the GPU's could just be compared.
-
the problem is no one is making a benchmark for 9800GTS
-
-
Ive got the 9200m gs which is the weakest 9-series dedicated gpu.
Here goes:
Notebook Vendor/Manufacturer and Series:

I shall bench the CoD4 demo at well... later -
Manic: Hmm.. Didnt know CoD had a benchmark.
Narsnail: I'll drop my clocks to stock and post results.. Let's see how we compare.
By the way..I'm placing a link on original post. This is the freestone GPU bench/stability test. I've found that the CPU has almost no bearing whatsoever on it. I ran against a stock 7811FX, and only outperformed it by 2 points. 407 vs 409. -
narsnail; I ran stock vs OC 3dmark06, and here ya go..
9800m GTS results:
3dmark06; 9558; SM2.0 4245 - SM3.0 3923 - CPU 2806 @ 3.06 GHz
Stock clocks - 600/799/1500

Overclocked GPU and UV'd CPU - 745/1003/1940

Also..give the FreeStone Benchmark a try..
Scored 410 with stock clocks.

Im jealous.
Very nice setup ya got there. And no OC for the benchmarks. Very respectable. I'll toss ya up on the front page. Thanks for the post.

Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
i scored 414 stock with the same GPU, this may be a stupid question but is future mark the only program that gives you a 3dmark score? -
Futuremark is the company that creates 3dmark software for benching..yes. And PCMark..
And how'd you get a higher score? -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
dont know lol i ran stock settings.
Edit: Wow you have a freakin core 2 extreme in there? How much did that cost? -
Good deal man.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
I just edited my post, you didnt see but: Wow you have a freakin core 2 extreme in there? How much did that cost? Yeah and good deal to you too
-
It's not inexpensive.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
hmm, im confused this says something about the notebook overheating though...
-
What says it is overheating?
-
Eh? Is the bench overheating?
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
lol e wrecked you edited your post you just gave a link to some overeating post....where'd it go?
-
Overeating????
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
LOL nm haha
-
ohhh..my bad. I meant to post that in another thread. No worries man. I was gonna toss out there a thread for you to check out regarding the 7811FX GPU and drivers.. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=295830 - It's page one, things dont get fun til page 3
And there's some cool folks that swing thru too. There's some nice 7811FX threads here if ya look around.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
IS there anyway to get futuremark for free? i see there is a trial you can only run it one time, what kind of crap is that?
-
You can run 3dmark06 as many times as you like.. I believe Vantage is a one time run. Most people refer to 3dmark06, but Vantage is the more level playing field for all around performance.
http://www.futuremark.com/products/3dmark06/ here ya go -
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
580mb? for a freakin trial of 3dMark!!! WOW thats alot of memory.
-
And the trial is a full version..just cant use a couple of special features.. but still has full basic functionality.
-
IKAS, how long you had the notebook?
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
sigh, well i guess i was gonna have to eventually download this anyway what are your stock numbers so i can tell you once i test mine and we can compare and see if each computer is different in some way.
-
Red, I'd love to be able to compare mine but I can't.. I dont think I ever ran it without the x9100. Most 7811FX users range 8600-8800 stock. give or take a few points. Check out that link I posted on previous page, it will give you a good start.
-
Red_Dragon Notebook Nobel Laureate
thanks for everything wrecked, +1 rep!
-
thank you. Hey, you'll notice the 7811FX folks have many threads under the gateway section..and they stay very active.. go mingle and you'll find lots of good guidance.
-
-
john, if anyone could do it..I figured it would be you. Im out though, night bro!!
-
later mayne

Going on 3 weeks now, E-wrecked(sorry for the delayed answer)
I feel dirty when I type your name.....
I couldn't be any happier with my notebook. -
Where did you order yours from? Xotic? I'm debating on picking up another rig.. I may wait for the GTX to go SLI though, if it ever does. Nevertheless, I'm impressed with your setup. -
IKAS V, do you think you can break the 15K boundry?
-
-
Sorry guys but can benchmark my Q210 with 3Dmark Vantage, those lemons decided not to include 1280x800 as a decent resolution, the min is 1280x1024 which I cant do. Is there a way to change the default settings to make it possible to benchmark?
Im trying to connect an external monitor but having trouble setting it all up. Its native res is 1440x900 but nVidia control panel wont show anything above 1280x800. -
Yeah...like Crysis or something! -
Hmm.. I'd love to post my results along side yours, just to put ya in check. But unfortunately I don't have enough time to play games all day.. So I don't often purchase them. In any case, I'll run crysis tomorrow..and COD4, and Assassins Creed. Those are the only 3 PC games I have, aside from spore..and it isnt very graphic intense..at least not yet. Maybe it will be once I progress. -
