Hello All. I'm looking at buying a new NoteBook with a nVidia 9800m GTS GPU, but something worries me.

NoteBookCheck has it's Power Consumption rated at 75 Watts!

Can anyone point me in the direction of some reliable Power Consumption Info on this card?

Or can anyone who owns a card in the 9800m series verify that the Power Consumption is not Indeed 75 Watts?

    Thanks In Advance!

looking at its desktop counterparts, sound like the 75 watts power consumption is about right at load, it will consume less power at idle of course. it is a gaming gpu after all. is there a laptop with 9800m gts?

Yes. The New GateWay P-FX Series Refresh is going to have a 9800m GTS.
I'm worried because the 8800m GTS was only a 35 Watt card. A 40 Watt jump is ridiculous!

    1) notebookcheck sucks
    2) 8800m GTX/GTS and 9800m GT consume 35W
    3) is 9800m GTS more powerful than 9800m GT? NO
    4) so 9800m GTS should consume 35W as well

    35W at full load.

Only the 9800M GTX will eat more than 45W of power, it's one of the reasons why it was not used in the M860TU.

The M860 is MXM III or IV? III is 35W and IV 45W I believe. But I don't know how they'd made a IV slot fit in a 15.4.
