which one would perform better in crysis?

The 9800m gs will preform better.
The 8800M gts is the equivalent of a 9700M GTS.
9800M GS > 9700M GTS = 8800GTS -
Sorry, even though I have the 9700M GTS it is NOT equal to the 8800M GTS. The 8800M GTS is EQUAL to the 9800M GT which is just a tad better than the 9800M GS, which is a tad better than the 9700M GTS. Hope this helps. God Bless -
what are the clocks on the 9800m GS? the 9800m GT is equal to a 8800m gtx not gts. i know the 9800m gts is the same card as the 8800m gts just clocked higher.
-
no... 8800M GTX = 9800M GT, which is slightly better than 9800M GTS, which is better than 9800M GS. 9700M GTS is slightly worse than 9800M GTS and is basically comparable to 9800M GS. I don't know where 8800M GTS fits into this equation but I'm assuming it's similar to the 9800M GS and 9700M GTS. In the end I think 9800M GT ~ 9800M GTS > 9800M GS >~ 9700M GTS >~ 8800M GTS
-
yeah um no.
ur both wrong
9800mgt = 8800m GTX
9800m GTS = 8800m GTS
9800m GT>9800m GTS>9800m GS
9800m GT is like 15-30% better 9800m GTS.
9800m GTS is like 2-5% than 9800m GS.
So, to answer you question, you wouldnt see tat much diff, cus a 9800m GS is basically a uc'ed 9800m GTS. -
Actually, 9800M GT > 9800M GTS > 9800M GS > 8800M GTS > 9700M GTS. For full details, refer to the link in my sig.

Pulled directly from Chaz's graphics card sticky:
8800GTS is better than the 9800GS, but I don't think by much.
-
i would think the 9800m gs would be a little bit ahead of the 8800m gts because of the clocks.
-
8800m gts is better
-
From here:
Both have 64 shaders and 256-bit bandwidth. Clocks same for memory, core and shader differ:
9800M GS - 530MHz core, 1325MHz shader
8800M GTS - 500MHz core, 1250MHz shader
9800M GS is faster. I've tried to compile GPU-Z shots from people who actually own the GPUs so the data should be accurate. I don't believe in the other benchmarks since different components can affect the score. -
Well according to clock speeds, the 9800M GS is better, but probably by 2-5% only which isn't much.
So it's basically the same. Both will struggle with crysis. -
-
Yeah 8800m gts is a 9800m gts, which means that is is better than the 9800m gs.
-
so far i believe that the 9800m gs is better since everybody defending it is ACTUALLY providing prove

' how is a 8800m gts better than a 9800m gs when they both use the same hardware and the 9800m gs has higher clocks?
-
i think its because GTS sounds cooler.

guys the 8000 series is over now lol time to move one. i dont mean that in a hating way as well, i mean i have a 8000 card AND a 9000 card. Soon you will only find used 8000 series cards its time we all move to the future not to the past
the funny thing is GTX280 will eventually come and 9000 series will be obsolete oh well welcome to the world of PC's.
+1 9800m gs -
Though the op should have just asked for a comparison of the entire laptops instead of just the gpu's. -
nah. i did my research beforehand, and i knew what was better at what between the g50vt-x2 and the 6860. There hasn't really been a good comparison between the 8800m gts and 9800m gs, and with the wierd structure of the 9800 suffix, that was really the only question I had in my mind. It didn't matter, I ended up buying a 6860 off of eBay for $660 with my 10% off coupon

Yeah like WysockiSauce said, get the 6860fx, its a great price performance ratio and you should be uber pleased with it.
If you like i can post a youtube vid of my 6860fx in crysis. -
post a vid for me. i want to see how those configs run on the 6860 since im thinking of picking up warhead for christmas.

Sent you a PM Erik. Once i pick up my camera at my Aunts house i will make the vid for you. But the PM should be work enough.
