So ideally it's a cooler running HD 7990 without the downfalls of Crossfire and lower power consumption to boot. Not bad.

That's freaking impressive. Properly cooled and using new changes in their architecture, we will see something stronger than an HD7990 while running cooler and using less power.

GPUs are getting ridicoulosly powerful. And just like that, our current mobile GPUs were sent from high end desktop (thanks to 780m and most likely hd8990) to mid range again, in one swift motion. :D

The specifications sound about right. It's the release date that is less than dubious.

    That's one crazy awesome card.

My two years are up with my 1st gen M18X, but I'm not going to the 8790 if this thing is coming out in the next 6-9 months. Definitely worth the wait.

I highly doubt they can pull this off.

If it's slotted to arrive THIS YEAR, within 7 months, and double the firepower of the current 7970 while drawing a substantially lower amount of power, then I say that this is nothing more than pure specualtion. The 7990 has a power draw of almost 400 watts and that was JUST put out within the past month, mind you all...

I'm not trying to doubt AMD, I'm merely stating that it's extremely unrealistic to think that this is genuinely possible within such a short amount of time. I'd call it all the same if Nvidia were to try and pull the same maneuver. :p

20nm and GCN2. It’s like an Intel tick and tock but in one generation.

Plus Tahiti was released a long while ago. HD7990 uses the same tech as then, and as mentioned, this is a new process and improved architecture.
