IMO they should've just made the gravity higher so it seems "less floaty" like epic said but still keep the jump after the dodge. It was what made UT2k4 fun and it required a lot of skill to master the concept of jump dodging. If they kept it in UT3 they maybe could've even added a nice little rolling motion after the dodge jump.![]()

Not a bad idea, but it would alienate all the hard-core twitch players.
UT was never a realistic game. My favorite days were playing UT99, lowgrav + instagib. Nothing quite like it.
IMO, the floaty feeling isn't all that bad and helps set UT apart. It gives you a nice feeling of freedom and allows you to pull of dodges that would be impossible in real life, but with sufficient skill are awesome to pull off in-game.
I never really liked UT 2k4, so I can't really comment on the jump dodge, but word was it was getting abused to the point where new players couldn't even get into the game, they were getting owned so bad. Epic probably sought to make it more accessible to new players. -
It's simply because all "elites" from UT99 whined and *****ed about dodge jump which they couldn't adapt.
Therefore Epic made UT3 more like UT99...
