I would like to build a list in this thread of good modern games (2005 +) that run smoothly on the Dell Latitude 820 with Quadro NVS 110M or 120M, not neccesarily at the highest graphic levels and resolution. I would like reports from the people who have actually tried these modern games on the Latitude series (Core 2 Duo, Quadro NVS)

Many game's compatibility with the Latitude 820, Core Duo 2, Quadro NSV have been asked about in different posts, so I want to try to get it all in one place.

    I have a Dell Latitude 820 (2.16 GHz, 2 Gig Ram 667MHz, 100 Gig HD 7200 RPM, NVIDIA Quadro NVS 120M).

I have read nearly every post so far on this subject. I know this is a business class laptop (not a gaming one), and that it has a workstation style graphics card that was designed for 2D business apps, not for gaming. I also realise that the Quadro NVS os based off the chipset of the GeForce 7300 / 7400 (110M/120M), and clocks anywhere between 1700 and 2100 on 3Dmark 05, which is below modern gaming standards.

I am interested in any good modern game that can be played at a reasonable speed and a graphic level that doesn't detract too much from the gameplay.

Here is a list of games, and reports on their compatability with the Dell 820 with Quadro NVS I have read so far in other posts on notebookreview.com..
    ------------------------
Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion - Reported Mid or Lower resolution plays at a reasonable speed, but very noticeable difference from the 'proper' Oblivion experience on a high-end gaming P.C.

GTA: San Andreas - Reported smooth gameplay at highest resolution.

F.E.A.R - Reported smooth gameplay, no mention of resolution

Civilisation IV - Reported smooth gameplay with some graphics options turned off.

Half Life 2 - Reported smooth gameplay
    ------------------------------------
Other specific games I'm intereted in: Splinter Cell - Double Agent, Warhammer, Heroes of Might and Magic V, Hitman: Blood Money, Etc

But please go ahead and mention any other good modern games (2005 +) tested in the Latitude Core 2 Duo, Quadro NVS series.
    ---------------

    Thank you

    Dan

    Hi,
I tested a few games in my D820 review http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=88089: Oblivion, Prey, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (not Heroes of might and Magic as the screenshot suggests).

I'd be willing to try out a few more. I just need to install them and do a few tests. I have the NVS 120M

From my experience with the Fx1400go, compatibility is only an issue if you use the certified Dell drivers vs. modded laptopvideo2go ones or such.

    Great idea,

I was having the same dilemma choosing games to buy, as many games say on the back of the box that they support the GeForce 7000 series, but wasn't if that meant my Quadro NVS 120M would work with it.
Here are some I've played on my Lat 820

Doom 3 - Runs well on default graphic settings
Oblivion - Have tried on a medium resolution, works well
Civ IV - Was actually surprised how well this runs!
Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones - Runs fine on most graphic settings
    King Kong - Works fine

Anyone else with an Lat 820 Quadro NVS tried any new games?

Actually, where we are at it OP, we should list any games that don't work on the Lat with Quadro NVS, so we can establish that as well.

    Thanks everyone..

If you get the chance RBDesign to test some more, please do.. I am familiar with your Lat 820 review thread, it is actually one of the reasons I chose the latitude over the Inspiron or Asus :)

Here are some more games reports on Lat 820 with Quadro NVS 120M from another site I posted this question on.

World of Warcraft - Ran fine max res, but WoW isn't that tough on video/cpu. 64fps cap due to game bug with dual core chips. Sigh, blizzard is supposedly fixing this in the expansion.. dont hold your breath though.

Knights of the Old Republic 2 - (star wars rpg) Ran, but really slow and buggy. Possibly a driver issue (game runs fine on my desktop with a geforce 6600). Overall, not playable in my opinion. May be fixed by newer drivers.

Warhammer: Dawn of War RTS. - Ran fine but had problems with widescreen rez. This was a software issue that wasn't fixed until the new expansion Dark Crusade came out (game had no ws support at all). I've not tested it since though.

Star Wars: Empire at War RTS - Ran fine at max res. No problems at all that I could see.
