Risking your Computer’s Files to Play a Game?… Now that’s hardcore.
![]()
Are you a hardcore gamer? Can you prove it when there is nothing to win… only to lose?
Some one has created a Mac OS X game with the high stakes and winning means you could lose it all.
The game is called “Lose/Lose” and that is actually what happens when you kill enemies in the game.
Source Page and Story here
Each enemy you face is generated off of a user file on the system and by killing the enemy the file is deleted.
Losing the game deletes the game and its been classified as malware and the author is quite satisfied with that.
The only way to win is not to play at all. (Emo music plays in the background)
1. Its almost mind numbing that there are a few people with scores of 5000+.
2. Its good mac’s got another game.
3. It’s nice that for a change pc’s didn’t get malware and mac’s aren’t left out for a change
4. YAY!!! We all got a new gift for our mac friends this holiday season. (evil laugh)

When an alien ship is destroyed (on the left) a corresponding file is deleted (on the right).

/me gets virtualbox ready for some action!
-
the only reason I would play this game is if:
- I know my system is going to be formatted
- I already made a backup of the important stuff
I am tempted in trying this game out... time to crack open my friend's dusty Powerbook G4. -
Does the game explicitly state that killing enemies deletes files, or is the player left to find that out for him or herself?
-
Or you can easily run this game with a sandbox program
-
-
oh man, this game is so full of win on so many levels!

If somebody sent something like this to me, and I unknowingly played it, I wouldn't even be mad. I'd think it was an awesome prank. -
*sends a fake sender email to his boss

I wonder if you can choose which files, or if it does it randomly?
-
This would be cool if I knew anyone with a mac to give it to.
-
I dunno...those graphics don't grab me.
-
This is quite possibly the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.
-
and "art" usually does not make sense. -
I'm going to create a game that steals peoples credit card information..... I call it the mona visa. -
Oh yeah! Saw this on G4 a while ago. Never will play it tho
mona visa?copyright that... crud

Sado-masochism in video games probably looks likes this then. No comment since I won't be using a Macintosh anytime soon and hopefully won't see a Vista compatible version of this game.
What happens when said game chooses a system critical file as an alien ship and player destroys it? -
EVE online used to delete your boot.ini at the time of the Trinity expansion release. Also some people claim they fried their videocard by sitting in station with v-sync off which resulted in very high frame rates and overheating.
A Game that risks your computer files?? Now that?s hardcore.
