Wow, someone on this form recommended that I give S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky a go, and I did. And I'm glad, its visually amazing, ran really bad at first but once you get all the patches and stuff I'm pretty happy with 23-40 fps on DX10+10.1 Mode with everything max but just medium AO, low sun quality, and medium rays, and like nothing on the anisotropic slider and half on the vegetation slider. 1920x1080!

Plays pretty well and looks fantastic. Enjoy, give me you opinions. And if your interested give the game a try, its dirt cheap. A pitty they didn't get the respect they deserve, I picked this game up brand new at only $19.99.

It is a decent game, the original is far superior though.

The reason it didn't get respect is because it was littered with bugs.

I've heard just the opposite. That the original had bugs, and Clear Sky was better, and to only play that if you never played the original because they are similar, but Clear Sky is better optimized with most of the bugs gone.

I liked how the original started off better. I feel kinda lost/just thrown into the game with Clear Sky, but after you play it for a bit you get used to it and catch up with whats going on and the locations.

Im so far just still messing around the swamp.

@ htwingnut: The first one is buggy without patches. After the patches it runs fine and the difficulty is more human-like (normal was very difficult without the patches).

@ JohnnyFlash: Why is the first one superior? I have only the first one, so I don't know abiout Clear Sky.

The first STALKER SOC has a more forced storyline. While there are side missions and things you can do, as well as a ton of different endings, most of the game is easy to follow.

Clear sky kind of throws you out there from the start with you not really knowing what to do, and having to figure it out yourself. After an hour or so you'll catch onto the main storyline, but even then your still kind of doing things your own way.

Both are alot of fun IMO, but I'd still suggest the latest patches before you even attempt to play them. There's also a lot of mod support to the game that completely changes the storyline, adds in new enemies, dialog, missions, weapons, etc.
