Hi everybody, I have had a good look through the forum and apologise in advance if this has been answered before.
I am looking for a cost effective solution to a stupid question.
My father will be in hospital for a long period of time and wants to play Operation Flashpoint on his laptop whilst there to kill the time (Probably a bad choice of words considering he has cancer but we are trying to stay upbeat about it all)
I would lend him my laptop but really need it for work (last resort if needed) and wanted to know of a way to get this game to play on a....
No laughing.
Dell Inspiron 1501
windows XP
AMD Sempron
Integrated graphics (which is part of the problem)
2GB ram
Need your expertise please

The new operation flashpoint dragon rising?
With that, your out of luck. -
SOL, or buy a new notebook. sorry to hear about ur dad being in hospital, is it srs? if so, i would forget about the gaming, try to enjoy ur moments withya dad.
-
its his dad that wants to do the gaming.
-
Maybe he is talking about the old OFP?
-
If it's the original OFP that game runs on like, anything.
Maybe even that laptop.
You can pick up decentish laptops for cheap though, check out the NBR marketplace. -

Sorry man, no way is it going to run on that laptop. Maybe look into alternative games? CS:S might run on that.. If he likes FPS, one pretty un-demanding and still fun game is Urban Terror, runs on the Quake III engine from '99. Should run no problem.
Sorry about your father, best wishes, hope he gets well soon. -
Hello. Hope your dad will be healed soon.
What is your budget? I mean your dad.
If you have a lot of money to spend, go for high-end laptop such as Alienware and Sager as well as MSI. They have i7 CPU now.
In addition, you don't have to worry about what games can be played if you're using high-end laptop. Because it can play any games. -
New Operation Flashpoint, not a chance
Sorry to hear about your dad. Best wishes to him and you and your family. -
Sorry about your dad there.
With the game, if your up for the most recent one maybe a ViDock will do lol.
We have the same kind of dad who is still into gaming, mostly military-ish games.
But honestly maybe you could just bring consoles there or something, and play with him instead, if you want to stay upbeat and all while having some bonding moments with him. That would be much more fun than just him playing and you watching or something, and when you're off to work he could still play alone. -
Thanks for all the replys. My Sony laptop plays the new Operation flashpoint no problems at all. So looks like I will give him that.
For the record my father has cancerous tumour on his bladder and is having that removed but he is going to be on IV antibiotics for 5 days prior due to Ecoli. He loves his war games even at 55 and is always on his PS3. Unfortunately hospitals have the crap pullout tv which you have to pay for with no connections on it otherwise I would take the PS3 in.
I was hoping that there might be a solution through maybe the express card slot like a cheaper version of the Asus machine that has been batted about. I have read bout the vidock but was lead to believe that a external monitor was needed.
My new laptop which I ordered last week is not being delivered till after the operation which is a shame as he is then going to be having my sony.
Thanks again especially from the people that posted get well comments. Nice to know that there are still some civilised people out there. -

Thanks usapatriot.
Will be a real pain for work but will get around it. Dad is more important. I see you are running W7, how you finding it as it comes with my new laptop?
