Warhammer.
Best MMO since DAoC.

My 5000$ Dark Jedi Guardian sponsored this message. Thankgod I was one of the lucky ones. -
Don't forget, it's a different BioWare than the KotOR BioWare. The two guys who own the company sold it about 3-4 years ago.
Still, considering what a cluster- SWG has been, it can only go up. -
Requiem: Bloodymare (free accounts, pay monthly and you get better XP and loot)
Entropia Universe - free accounts, in-game economy has a real world exchange rate. $1 = 10 PED. It IS possible to profit, but hard, I've made small deposits in from time to time since 2003, but I've also cashed out in 2006 and made a few grand off it. I have since rejoined the game and am up and going agian. It is 100% sandbox, no quests or instances. 95% of items are player crafted. Avatar creation is very deep and it is rare to see two avatars that look the same because of that. If you join this one, shoot me a PM and I will be glad to be your "mentor" and show you the ropes.
RF Online. Grind heavy, potion fest, but still really fun. It is free now.
Darkfall... Meh... I was in the beta, I wasn't impressed... the game still needed 3-4 months of testing and fixes before being released and they still launched it. Now they have problems, I wonder why... The selling point of the Mahirim was the ability to run at mounted speed by going onto all fours... that isn't in still and they can't get mounts unless they buy them from non-Mahirim players. On top of that, they have the biggest hit box of all the races in a PVP-centric game. Yeah, very sloppy.
WoW- Compucrack, pure and simple. Gets boring IMHO, that is why I take breaks.
Guild Wars- used to be a great game, then they made expansions. Maybe I would enjoy it if Katrina hadn't wiped out half my old guild back in '05. When half the guild is in suburbs of New Orleans, a major storm like that has a tendency to kill the guild off.
Planetside - a Reserves account is free and will let you get to Battlerank 6. It is a fun MMOFPS, even if dated.
Non-personal experience:
I've heard good things about Conan and Vanguard, having friends that play both. -
I really liked Vanguard, beautiful game, but didn't they shut the servers down a while back?
Never really got into WoW, played it for a couple months but didn't see the appeal. Guild Wars was okay given the fact that there was no monthly fee, but it didn't have a very rewarding PvE experience and Dark Age of Camelot did PvP so much better with it's RvR.
Warhammer is my current fav. It feels like what DAoC 2 would have been but with a Warhammer skin, and that's a very good thing.
Everything from PvE anyone-can-join public quests, to the scenarios, to open RvR is very entertaining. Really the best MMO available at the moment regardless of your play style (PvE, PvP, community).
A good MMORPG to kill time?
