Hi,
Not sure how known this is, but its a useful little tip that works for me. when sometimes after long period of gaming, my gpu would downclock to low power 3d mode and stay there. usually i have to restart my laptop at this point. but it turns out you can reset the gpu driver by going into device manager and disable your video card, then enable it again. this will enable it to go into high power 3d mode again, and you can continue gaming without restarting the laptop. this works fine on my asus m50sv with nvidia 9500m. hope someone finds this useful.

Sure that it is not caused by overheat? It sounds more like a issue then tip

. Thanks dude!!

Yeah, sounds like it's overheating and downclocking to protect it. However, it is probably a glitch that it won't reset once temps are safe.

not an overheating issue with me, my temps never go above 76 for the gpu. the downclock to low power 3d happens also sometimes when i start a game. also occasionally when i resume from hibernate, it will be stuck in low power 3d. rather than having to restart in those cases, the tip above resets the driver so it can go into high power 3d mode or reset powermizer if its stuck at a certain mode.
edit: and there other cases in these forums where the gpu randomly downclocks to low power 3d mode despite not overheating. -
