Hey guys, I have the Acer 5100-5840 and here are it's basic specs

    AMD Turion64 x2 TL-52
    2 GB DDR2 RAM
ATI Radeon X1100 with up to 512mb hypermemory
    Vista Home Premium

My question, I've read somewhere on this site that you can actually allocate less memory to my video card. When I checked it out the 'appearance and personalization' option, here's what it says:

    Total available graphics memory 895mb
    Dedicated video memory 256 mb
    System video memory 0mb
    Shared system memory 639mb

I've also read somewhere on this site that certain video cards don't run well on 512mb, so how do I change the memory setting under Vista for the X1100?? Thanks

Not all of that memory will be allocated. It's the maximum amount of memory that can be allocated (the cap for that setting).
The actual amount of memory that will be taken might never even reach 200MB. (Unless you play some intense games and MAX OUT the settings)
I don't know where have you read this.If you still have questions please be more specific.
