*sigh*
i was expecting excellence. i received none. granted, the thing is free, but its not even worth its price in time to install in the state it is in currently. i literally cannot think of one redeeming quality of this game.
overhype - FTL.
its not made by indie developers. its not a beta. its not version 1.0. its buggy and glitchy as hell. this impacts the enjoyment of the game. animations are glitchy. menus are glitchy. movement is unnatural. graphics are bland. sound is bad. models are bland. colors are bland. the whole experience is uninspiring. no immersion. awkward pacing. blegh.

Seems to be working a lot better for me after the latest hotfix. The game is fun from a tactical standpoint, it's not a run and gun game. Once they iron out the bugs I'm sure it will be very good.

i mean, i guess i could have mentioned the one hope i have for the game.
fix the glitches and obvious horribleness, and then you still have a pretty bad game.
BUT- it COULD be good (with more revision, patches, content)
just the way AA is, if the mechanics aren't tweaked just right, everything falls apart. but i do stand by AA and say it COULD be fixed in the future. -

I do like a lot of the features that they introduced into AA 3.0, especially sliding, diving, and rolling. It's definitely still very glitchy, but I don't think it's a bad game at all. The gameplay is dead on if you like tactical shooters.

its just that all the broken stuff gets in the way of the game.
it *could* be spot on if the moving was tighter, glitches were fixed, and the leaning mechanic was fixed... among other things -
Developers were actually fired shortly after release (don't think number of devs has been disclosed yet). Sounds like they had some major management issues so don't expect things to get better quickly.
-
According to http://pc.ign.com/articles/996/996214p1.html the studio's closing was part of consolidating the Army's resources into one area.
-
The moving mechanics is the worst. Its so hard trying to time how long your meant to press the left and right button before your close enough to a corner to lean properly for a good view.
-
so i finally managed to get into a server, and i find i can't even manage 10fps on my 9500M GS....
tried lowering settings from medium to low, and still got the same thing -
I gave up playing after sneaking around a corner, firing at someone, see them point their gun at me after 5 seconds, and me dying straight away...
-
I like it. Underneath the plethora of game annihilating bugs, there is a half decent and free* tactical shooter busting to get out.
The first thing they need to work on after getting it stable is the hit detection, which is absolutely crucial, then the control system, input lag, server lag and, Jesus, about a million other things. But I still like it :OS -
Yeah the movement and controls should be given really high priority.
AA3 is glitchy and horrible
