    I know 1.6 is on steam, and I know a few still play 1.5 but I'm not sure where you would download the install for it.

    probably best not to ask about stuff like this.

    btw using dodgy CS's online isn't worth the hassle as the keys will be used by god knows how many people at the same time as you (valve's online thingy wouldn't allow two keys at the same time when i tried ages ago, so subsequently bought HL Generations :))

    as for CS 1.6, yeah, it's on steam now. So if you can maybe persuade a friend to either give or sell you his/her key (and if they're not plying CS, why not!? unless they're on CS:Source) then you can simply use that on Steam and it'll download Counterstrike to your hard drive (up to 800mb though)
