Hi, I am new, so sorry to be a little selfish in jumping in with my question.

I am buying to laptop tomorrow and have a great dilemna which I cant find the answer on the net anywhere. I have 2 choices to buy from as we want a 14.1 screen for sure. The 2 contenders are

    ACER 5585 WXMi
    Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology, Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7200
(2GHz, 667FSB, 4MB L2 Cache), 1GB DDR II RAM, 160GB HDD, 7300 Nvidia 128 MB dedicated card (upto 384 MB), Vista Home Premium, 1.3 MP Webcam. The Windows experience score was 3.2

    HP DV 2530
    Intel® Centrino® Duo mobile technology, Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor T7300
(2GHz, 800FSB, 4MB L2 Cache), 1GB DDR II RAM, 120GB HDD, 8400 Nvidia 64 MB dedicated card (upto 384 MB), Vista Home Premium, 1 MP Webcam. The Windows experience score was 3.4

Incidentally the HP is around 15% more expensive (i am based in the UAE)
There are no other significant differences or ones which matter to me

My use is for home, but I have heard stories of "slow" Vista and I am not likely to change laptops frequently, so dont want save now for upgrading later.

    Which should I buy.
The dilemna is whether the Nvidia 8400 (64 MB dedicated) is better than the 7300 Nvidia (128 MB dedicated). Both go up to 384 Shared
The salesman went great guns on how the 800 FSB is far better than the 667 FSB. I have no clue on this
The third plus he said was the HP brand name
Acer scores on Value for money big time

I would appreciate if you could help me out

    Cheers

Its rougly $1200 here inthe UAE while the ACER is $1050. I am also getting feedback that the 64 MB in HP is not good... any comment on that

If you are spending 150 only for the graphics card, it's not worth. The 7300 is a slow graphic card but the 8400gs is not super fast either, what games do you plan to play on your laptop?

But I like more the hp design and I think that those 15% more on price will get you more than 15% performance in games. But I don't know about performance in other activities. Also the acer has more hd
