    Heys guys.

I'm deciding between 2 laptops, and I need to know: is the 6770 a lot better than the 540m, or not?

From reviews I have seen the 6770 is quiet a bit better. I had the 540m and was very dissatisfied.

    Really, why?

I'm trying to decide between a new Toshiba with the 540m or the new Hp dv6 with the 6770.

I would prefer the Toshiba, if the difference between the graphic cards wasn't too big..

    GDDR5 ( 6770 ) vs GDDR3 ( 540M ).

    'nuff said.

But from what I've seen, the difference in gaming perfomance is, at best, 7 fps.

Believe me, that is a HUGE increase, very noticeable, specially in FPS MP games. What do you prefer : 23 or 30? ;)

7 FPS makes a huge difference when it comes to games that render apt of frames like Real-Time Strategy or 1st Person Shooters. Plus the 6770M is a great overclocker for even more performance for your money.

Agreed. Depending on game, the 6770M can beat the 54M by an even greater number of frames per second. They aren't really in the same league. The NVIDIA equivalent of the 6770M is the 555M.
