    Hi guys,

Any idea about the release date for the AMD 6970M? I'm just waiting for it to release and see if it's offered with any ASUS, Sager or MSI models.

    Any info about this?

    Thanks

Dell already has it offered in the Alienware M17x R3. Sager has confirmed having engineering samples in house and testing. So probably within a month you'll start to see it widespread. So far looking like a great chip, nearly comparable to the nVidia GTX 485m, but at significantly less cost.

    Thanks htwingnut...

I was waiting for the backorders to clear and now that it has, will wait a bit more for the 6970M..

Off-topic, does your NP8170 have the BIOS option to boot from USB-DVD drive? Thinking about placcing a second HDD in the ODD bay. Thanks!

yeah I'm planning to go for the 8130 actually :)... figured it should have same boot options as yours...

I very rarely use my DVD drive and already have an external one... only used when I have to recover Windows!! :)

Completely new architecture. The 5870M is now the 6870M.
