I wonder if ever when will the 680M (just a single card) be available for the M18X? .. I also noticed that there is no option yet for a single 7970M for the M18X?..

This is BF3 (48 player TDM multiplayer) at 1080p Ultra Texture, rest are med., 4x AF and low post AA coming from my 460M, ..hehe :) FPS is from 40-54 everytime.. OC'ed to 810/1650, max GPU temp. of 80-82 *C after 5 hrs. of playing BF3 multi..

isn't the GTX 670m soldered onto the motherboard on the gt60? If that's the case then you have no choice.

No, the GT60 uses MXM just like all the other machines that have ever used that case. (GT68x, GT66x, GX660)

You know you bring up a very good point...look how beautiful that looks and you are getting great frame rates on an oc'ed gtx 460m

And then we have others worried if 7970m or 680m will run bf3 ultra.

at what settings? At thief1958's settings? Probably 75-90fps

If you want to use better than the low post AA, google SMAA injector and try that. Better than the in game FXAA but at very little hit

I'm trying to chop the price down on the eon 17-s, is 16gb ddr5 ram neccessary right now? , the price setting that i have right now is 2,527$ (680m is in there.)

also, for hard drives i have a 120 corsair ssd and a 320gb HDD, are ssd's the way to go right now? or should i default to the HDD and wait?

shedding the ram to 8gb then, this will keep me under 2,500$ (the limit that i set) how big is the difference between 1333MHz and 1600MHz? (last question, ill keep on topic i swear.)

Here is why performance mode means absolutely nothing:
    7970M vs 580M

    Max payne:
    768p: 50% better score for 7970M
    1080p: 144% better score for 7970M

    Diablo 3:
    768p: 28% better
    1080p: 42% better

    Skyrim:
    768p: 57% better
    1080p: 70% better

    BF3:
    768p: 30% better
    1080p: 46% better

    Batman:
    768p: 19% better
    1080p: 67.7% better

    Deus Ex:
    768p: 52% better
    1080p: 89% better

    Crysis 2:
    768p: 3% better
    1080p: 57% better

    Average over all games:
    768p: 34% better
    1080p: 73% better

So while 680M is scoring 5% better GPU score in PERFORMANCE SETTING in 3DMark11, it could multiply or do even better when all settings are crammed up in 1080p. Same can be said about the P score in Vantage where 7970M takes the lead. Or 680M may take over the lead once the settings are at 1080p or Extreme preset as they call it

Thats what I`ve been trying to say to you guys. You cannot trust a benchmark that even a IGP can do perfectly without getting choked.

NOTHING is settled until we see a real review

Why are you clinging on so tightly, try to be rational here like the rest of us :)

The fact of the matter is that the 680m is not going to magically pull your +15% out of its buttocks when it's sitting near even with the 7970 on synthetic benchmarks. Will it perform better? probably ever so slightly, yes. However continuing to scream "+15%!!!!" when all the data points to different performance marks is lunacy good sir.

Try for once to prove me wrong with something other than your usual biased opinions. I already posted reasons why it could be greater than 5%. Now you can prove me wrong. I don`t think you are able to

I wasn`t looking to prove anything other than "look its playable with max settings". Oh well, I guess I can`t satisfy everyone :)

    975mhz (DDR 1950) at CL9 should do :D

the guy in the video says that it's about 30-40fps by guessing because there is no fraps installed.
also he says that it's not that good but quite impressive for a mobile gpu

so i guess it's not any new news ;-)

what else than claiming better performance should nvidia do? if they'd promote their card with saying
"Well folks, the card is as fast as the 7970m, maybe a little bit faster. but as we all know you love us so much, we think the 300$ premium is ok for you guys! so go buy nvidia! wohoo"

i have to admit i don't have a lot knowledge of GPU stuff but i've read almost the whole thread and you have never proven that it's 5% faster or even more? only speculation and what official nvidia slides show.

Oh look another AMD lover came to join the party. Seriously, this forum is flooded by AMD zealots

I haven`t proven anything but I have given out reasons to why Performance run doesn`t count and I have given out numbers to why 768p and 1080p behave totally different with two GPUs. Vahlen haven`t said anything constructive. (Still waiting )

Cloud, calm down, we all want to see what the 680M can do.

If he is wrong then the proper benchmarks by review sites and users will show it.

I am just in a zen state at the moment because my card arrives tomorrow :D

i just don't understand why you want people to prove you wrong of something you have not proven yourself yet. it's all speculation and all the non-official data leads towards a slight victory for the 680m for an hilarious extra 300$.

People that are much smarter than I when it comes to calculating those results have already done so in this thread several times, you have chosen to blindy disregard them each time. Asking me to preform a similar task when the results would be the same is unreasonable.

Also, of course BF3 is going to be playable............the 680m is at least as powerful as the 7970 which already wrecks BF3 on ultra. You're smarter than this dude, cmon.........

Wouldn`t it be much cooler to make your own hypothesis out of your own thoughts rather than relying on what other people say? Its fun, especially if you are right and lots of people are wrong. :p

Its pretty easy looking at your signature and your attitude :p

The ONLY non official data is based on a tessellation benchmark WITHOUT tessellation, bencmarks with laughable settings and resolutions. Come on dude :p

Nvidia says the exact same score for Vantage/3DMark11 but still say 680M is 15-20% faster in games ;)

And there you go again, revealing your true self, "hilarious extra $300" :)

    Let's presume 7970m has 60fps in a game and 680m can perform 5% percent better. So 60 x 0.05 = 3.

    3fps = $300

if you're predictions are right: congratulations! but i still have the feeling despite all the information that is out there you can't do nothing but stick to your own predictions and trying to disagree with people not sharing it.

oh and by the way: i have always used intel and nvidia stuff in my systems except one notebook which i used for work only. so don't call me an amd fanboy lol.

i just look at the information which is available until this day and don't really give a .... about official advertisements.

    edit:

oh because i ordered an 7970m i'm a fanboy? i just collected all the information given in the threads and that made my decision pretty easy.

so, whats my attitude if you know me so well, lol

Btw type "render.drawfps 1" in the BF3 console to show fps.
No fraps needed in that game.

Im gonna stay away from the main AMD vs Nvidia discussion as nobody is gonna win that one.

i really don't want to go much further into this discussion. i'm happy with my decision on ordering a 7970m and if the 680m is that much better i might upgrade and will congratulate you on your right predictions personally :)

still.. no one can prove your predictions wrong at the moment. but on the same side you can't verify your predictions yet. so just wait and see.
and i'm still mad at you for calling me a fanboy :)

well you should tell that to those guys testing. i cant play bf3 on my 5year old notebook :)

Cloudfire if you are not on Nvidia's payroll you clearly need to be.

I notice you discount anything based on AMD but back anything Nvidia 1000% percent regardless.

Gotta say i find that a little on the odd side (unless of course your getting paid by them then i completely understand).

I have actually thought about contacting Nvidia and requesting to be the first one to do a review of the 680M. Then secretly overclocking it behind the scenes to hide the truth and to shock/amaze people. :p

Yes it did. They sold tons of the GPUs. Cheap and good. If only AMD used the same effort with their drivers as they did with the hardware.

    -------------------------------------------

Oh well, I feel surrounded by people now. Looking strangly at me. I`m gonna call it and do something else. Bye :)

Definitely get the SSD, btw you can buy one separately and install yourself, it is really simple and the crucial M4 on Amazon and Newegg is $179.99 right now; 8GB of ram is plenty for gaming, wow $2527 with the gtx680m that's amazing ><" more ram if you plan on virtualising stuffs.

I reckon he's just stubborn-minded, i have a friend exactly like him, he also asserts himself and his opinions on everyone else and most of the time he's pretty much dead on the money, which sucks if you ever want to argue with him , haha.

Question: a downclocked GPU, in this case the 670, down to 720MHz for the GPU and down to 900MHz for the memory completely match the GPU score the 680M would get in 3DMark11? Or are there anything to consider?
