Okay, anyone want to share what's the difference between c-50 and c-60? I just read slickdeal forum AO722 thread, most people there only notice the difference is that c-60 significantly cooler than c-50, nothing much else. Is there any really difference on procie speeds?

I don't think we know yet, because they were [and may still be] shipping them without a properly configured BIOS for the APU/GPU. it works, but non-optimized.

    Hi everyone,

just released a new version (V1.0.6) of BrazosTweaker with support for Turbo versions C-60 / E-450 and a little nicer PState monitoring (current frequency and PState).

    Hope you like it,
    witteks

works great. with the semi-unlocked bios posted last month i was able to disable cool'n'quiet in the bios and use brazostweakers' custom pstate changing. even better battery with little to no performance loss. crossing my fingers on cracking the NB issue

Does anyone have an Acer 722 with this C-50? Mine doesn't seem to be using hardware acceleration for flash videos (youtube). 1080p is a slideshow :/
720p is ok but still has a few drops. CPU is hitting 100%

    I've updated:
The amd drivers, tried 3 diff browsers (Firefox, Chrome, IE)
Flash to the lastest - 10.3
    All important Windows Updates
Hardware Acceleration is checked in Flash Options

    How do i fix this?

    it works. no issues w/chrome.
just make sure you have the updates and that CCC is installed correctly, bloatware removed completely especially symantec/norton/mcafee... i forget which one they packaged but get the consumer product removal tool and run it.

Not only that, is the file buffered a bit? Even on my desktop, and more so on my wireless laptop, a 1080p youtube flash file without sufficient buffering will "stutter," a fair amount :(.

I've removed the bloatware but it shouldn't affect video playback if Hardware acceleration is infact working.
CCC is installed correctly and up to date.

And buffering is not the problem, on my desktop pc 1080p is smooth

But oh well, guess i'll be returning this laptop. C-50 is a real disappointment as most other atom netbooks can already do 720p even with intel's crappy integrated graphics and are about $100 less

The E-350 is able to run 1080p but its not perfect as you get a few frame drops. Its too bad Acer hasn't made a 11" model with it

Just want to tell you my experience

I have a W500 with a C-50 with 5W TDP. I read this thread since 4 month and finally registerd.

The w500 is a win7 tablet, and the peformance of the C-50 is enough for a tablet. Sometimes i plug in my 24" over hdmi and use mouse and keyboard to get real desktop feeling. Its not as fast as my real desktop pc with phenom 4x3,4 ghz but ..it does not have to be...cause its a mobile device not supposed to do cs5 or modern games

    My P-Stats.
    P0: 1ghz @ 0.9V
    P1: 0,5ghz @ 0,7V
Until 60°C the tablet is passiv. Massiv gaming (UT3) ends with 64°C.
Power drain as shown by BatteryBar with idle(no wlan/darkest settings) ->3,7W Perfect for reading ebooks in darker rooms .. showing a possible runtime of 8.25h...was not able to test it that long.. always fell a sleep after 30-45min ;)
The c-50 is quiet powerfull. Just the 1ghz sometimes is not enough to keep the GPU busy. 720p youtube is working nice with 500mhz. Just the pageload is slow. But somtimes the hardware acc. is just not working or hangs on. I still have problems with this, especially when switching the video resolution or to fullscreen. If everything works as it should, i can extend the tablet display with the 24" and play a 1080p youtube video fluidly.

    System config:
c-50, 2gb of ram, 32gb ssd, 10.1" with 1280x800, no antivirus software and a 3 month old windows installation.

I have the same tablet, and unlike most netbooks/laptops, it sucks in air from the side and exhausts it out the top of the screen (since all the system components are housed in the screen portion, and the keyboard dock is just a keyboard), so cooling is never obstructed during use.

Just to follow up on this. I did some re-testing and found out it really was the buffering causing the terrible slideshow FPS. If you let the 1080p youtube finish loading/buffering then play it (Full Screen) there are barely any drops in fps. :)
The buffering I guess really taxes the cpu and causes the frame drops. So this c-50 is alright for video playback. The cpu is a bit weak so buffering while watching can cause some real problems. I'm not sure if services like netflix constantly buffer while you watch but if so then you might run into this issue. Also multitasking is a bit sluggish especially when you are watching an HD video.

Also the c-60 with its turbo boost function got some number jumps in benchmarks making it very close to the e-350. If you plan on getting this laptop I suggest trying to find the version with the c-60

    'Dynamic FSB Switching'
is disabled as default. = ENABLE PLEASE.... definitively only hope for overclock
and also maybe look for fsb max freq. offset and or default offset ...but its risky to try out without testing, :) its safe to run at 105 mhz but its too small gain, interesting can be 118 and up :)
and also have you found GPU FREQ. offset ?
    thanks

Like with the SNB, this change will be linked FSB PCIE frequency, memory frequency, set display frequency. But Llano better than the SNB, the clock generator synchronized with the FSB in addition, has also joined an asynchronous design, it's like back to the situation ten years ago K7/P3 on the platform, PCIE frequency of a sub-1.33 , that is, 133 FSB, when frequency is enabled (which is enabled automatically or manually, after the board tried to get to get to know), PCIE frequency will be 1.33 times the divider, just 100, so 133 FSB is safe, conversely, FSB is multiplied by the clock generator to get the magnification of 1.33.FSB overclocking, we have already mentioned in the previous Llano FSB mechanism, taking into account the PCIE frequency of interaction, Llano only two security FSB, 100 and 133. Other FSB PCIE frequency will be as a result of linkage of some equipment failure or life shortened, and the current situation, about the FSB to 115-120, on synchronized frequency is almost the limit, this time I believe the motherboard much of the equipment already onboard is not working properly, except for sound card, network card failure in addition, there will not recognize hard drive, even when the set was used VGA / DVI interface, no signal. But as long as the asynchronous divider is enabled, FSB can jump from 133 until about 145-150 are OK, and extreme cases can reach 160, this time also reached the 120 or so PCIE.There is, pay attention to Llano's FSB is indeed affect the whole body, the FSB will be linked memory, PCIE, and explicit set of frequencies, so the frequency of memory and should be set significantly enhance the synchronization with the FSB. For example, the default condition A8-3850 FSB is 100MHz, set display frequency of 600MHz, the overclock will keep this ratio between them, when FSB overclocked to 150MHz, the display can be set to 900MHz. This ratio can not be changed, the decision needs to look at the motherboard BIOS. Here are three different FSB, memory frequency and frequency close to the 3dmark Vantage score certification link, we can look into the points, with the FSB increase, there is considerable change in performance:
    100x29 = 2.9GHz, Memory DDR3-1866 9-9-9-24 = P4161 points: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3301950
    133x23 = 3.06GHz, Memory DDR3-1733 9-9-9-24 = P5079 points: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3304624
    145x21 = 3.045GHz, Memory DDR3-1932 9-11-11-36 = P5249 points: http://3dmark.com/3dmv/3306154

I put in a request to enable dynamic fsb switching. I think Camiloml will follow through. This last post is interesting, but ultimately disappointing, as theres no way our boards could handle that kind of increase in fsb. there'd be way to much instability in that kind of overclock, as everything is tied into that overclock. Either way, my fingers are crossed. I want to play some games on this thing. I get 15-20 fps on the newest games like fear 3 and warhammer space marine. that push in freq might lead to console level performance, if the gpu can keep up with all the heavy lifting.

In particular, graphics performance? CPU performance?

Or that horrible bug with the HD indicator with an SD card plugged in?

yes sd/ blue light , is horrible...but maybe it has something to do with "bad" / format of sdcard from camera ..have you tryed format sdcard from windows?

OC: man if we can get it to work at 133mhz fsb that will rock..but its probably not possible / look at e350 overclocking
..first of all i suggest to look at what is possible on e350 and thanyu can push to modify the bios...because it will be pain to flash bios, test ,etc.
so in otherwords dynamic FSB can open fsb for overclock ? or we need to modify the DIVIDEr ?

SD cards formatted in Windows FAT, exFAT, or NTFS exhibit problem: Insert an SD card into reader, HDD activity LED lights goes on, stays on.

Acer support proved useless. Their solution circa April, 2011 was, depending on who you spoke with, (1) It's normal. or (2) "Send your laptop in for service." This to me was more an insight in how a contract helpdesk works than anything else.

It's too bad. It killed my plan to employ ReadyBoost as I value a sense of HDD activity over ReadyBoost.

    I have the same problem as n0Ne - I can't change resolution from 800x600.

Bought my AO 522 yesterday, replaced the HDD with an Intel 320 series 120 GB SATA II SDD, and upgraded RAM to a Corsair Value DDR3 SO-DIMM 1066MHz 4GB. I also installed Windows 7 Home Premium x64.

I have not changed any settings in BIOS or in Windows, or similarly.

When trying to install the x32 VGA driver (8.792.0.0) from Acer Support: Downloads & Support Documents - Netbook / Aspire One / AO522 the install of ATI graphics driver fails, all other drivers in the package are installed.

    Any thoughts?

UPDATE 2011-09-25: Problem solved after installing Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and then reinstalling the VGA driver. Now the largest resolution is available 1280x720.

im not sure, but theres another post of a modded bios that got put up today. he's unlocked options similar to bios mods camiloml. no cpu and gpu voltage or freq options. i just like all the attention on this topic. thats good news for people that want some mods

it seems like overclocking is futile. maybe the only options is through pll settings fsb to 130mhz? if so, could someone make a software that does this adjustment? i do believe if there is an overclocking possibility it would be very limiting.

    Hi!

I've bought a 1015BX which comes with a C-50. On the website it says the memory limit is 2GB, but i've seen that the Acer Aspire 522 has the same components and it works with 4GB.

Will my 1015BX work with 4GB?

It is software limited to 2GB, if you use Windows Starter. There is no real hardware limit. Most of the machines can be upgraded to 2x4GB, if this would be really needed.

Hi guys, thats my first post here, greetings from Poland :p

So has anyone overclocked C-50? Or it turned out to be totally impossible?

    Here:
Aspire AO522: AMD C-50 CPU 6250 GPU Benchmark | Laptop - Notebooks Drivers Updates

    someone writes that
"You can find overclocking software anyway, so that you can have the AMD C-50 1.6 GHz CPU and 500 MHz GPU."

but he does not mention any particular soft.

I have Acer AO722, generally good machine (especially bright screen), but slooow...

    Hi guys,

I', following this thread since about 100 pages, it's shame that we still can't overclok acer's netbooks with c-50 and c-60 (well I actually don't own one ;p) But I'm thinking about buying it right now. Could anyone tell me if it can run smoothly game League of Legends ? Also how is the linux support on this device can you get everything running ?. I plan to use it as linux device with some causual gaming on windows and LOL is the only game I basicly play ;P

i tried win 8 32 and 64 bit. both ran great, but 64bit is really buggy. also, the artificial resolution cap for the metro apps gui is lame. it requires a minimum res of 1366 x 768. all hd resolutions should be supported. microsoft better address that. tried gta san andreas. ran pretty well. however its quite obvious that the cpu is far too underpowered to run most games out there. the games are just not optimized for this kind of system. even a 1.3ghz overclock would not be enough. something closer to 1.6 ghz would be needed, and that looks like a pipe dream. by the way, the 11.9 amd drivers are dope. nice improvement in almost all games as well as huge boost in performance for all gpu accelerated video playback. less than 18% cpu usage for 1080p.

looks like this thread is dieing. i hope that someone figures out a way to mess with the apu more than brazostweaker.

Here are the games that I have been able to play.

Presently, Portal 2. I run it with customized medium and low settings. Runs.
Also playing Fallout 3 New Vegas, customized settings, basically medium.
Runs Great , should I put the platinum chip in for Yes Man?
Bioshock, runs great. long load times plus you have to have vertical sync enabled or it runs slow. Beyond the load times, it plays great and looks very good, most graphic options on.

Call of Duty 2. Played well.

Mass effect one and two. One ran slow at lowest settings with some medium notes. Not worth the experience. Playable but looked play station 2
    level with everything toned down.

Mass effect two. Plays better, perhaps better graphic optimization, still the frame rates drop occasionally and the graphics level needs to be low. You can pump up the graphics but the frame rates slow down.

Age of Empires 3 Plays well on high settings. runs great.

Raiden 3 Plays great , actually flies.

Virtua Tennis 3 Sega. Runs Great at medium to high settings. Great quick game to play and looks stunning.

Oblivion Runs Great. Medium Settings , runs fine.

    Fallout 3 plays great.

    Halo 2 plays great.

Silent Hill 4 the room. It works well. Plays great.

    Silent Hill 2 Plays well.

    Fable works great.

    Guilty Gear x2 runs great.

    freedom fighters Runs Great

    Jade Empire runs great.

Devil May Cry 4 ran great. oddly.

    COD 4 Ran great.

Also remember, this cpu actually is rated faster than it's one ghz mark as it has out of order execution and other tweaks, compiled in an APU package, something that may give the CPU a hidden boost. Why? I don't know but the majority of the games that I am playing successfully are meant for CPU's that run 2GHz or 1.8 Ghz, in some cases even higher. So, there is something about this CPU where it shouldn't simply be seen as a meh 1 GHZ Mule.

I could go on. Runs Reason 5 with USB Midi Keyboard. Corel photo 3, Photoshop CS5, Traktor Pro one and two with usb external Dj Mixer, ableton.

Run it as a desktop and media device for my projector. Running HD content.
Running microsoft office 2010 zero issues.

My system. Acer 522 c-50 with Ultimate 64 Windows 7, 4 gig of ram, clean install, 64GB Solid State Drive, External Drives and Brazostweaker to keep the temperatures down, which works, I can play Fallout New Vegas for hours and the bottom of the Acer 522 is just warm to the touch. Highly Recommended. With the Led Screen, this little laptop should last for a couple of years.

In conclusion, this is a netbook, but acts like a top of the line laptop three to four years ago.

All the talk on the internet, "it's just for web browsing and light office applications. Absolute nonsense. I take this netbook out with my Numark Mixtrack Dj Mixer and play out. My Dj Set up fits in
a side bag. all of it. Hello Future.
