Damn 11.4 WHQL didn't last long. >.<
-
ya really... 11.4 was less then 30 days then BOOM 11.5!
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
well 11.4 did come out way late.
still, sweet 11.5 (just in time for my laptop to come back from HP) -
OMG I just installed the 11.5 preview a few days ago, then here come WHQL. ~_~
-
I hope this is going to be a trend. Performance updates and consistent driver releases could mean serious competition to nvidia.
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
Looking forward to the hotfix really. The drivers themselves are exactly the same as the previews released a few days ago.
-
11.5a hotfix AMD Catalyst? 11.5a hotfix
-
Well, I have no intention to play Brink, or convert to Blu-ray, so I guess I'll pass.
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I do have some intentions to play brink.
It also fixes some weird problems with 6600 series cards, flickering, and DX9 -

mobility mod is out on guru3d -

Ati has really improved a lot. First 11.4 that fixed the main live tv issue for me + great speed and now 11.5a already? Great! I don't remember nvidia having improvements so big in two month's releases. These couple of last drivers really made a difference.
-
I haven't updated my graphics drivers in a long time and I wanted to know is it still necessary to uninstall your current driver before installing a new driver?
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
From experience -> Yes you do and you have to boot in safe mode and use driver sweeper to sweep the remaining files -
. Just making sure.
Thanks -
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
I'm forced to install over previous ones if I wanna keep switchable.
seems to work fine by me. -
if you use driver sweeper terrible thing can happens
if you really feel like you need to remove the old driver first just desinstal it normallyand reinstal the new one -
The whole just install over old install is outdated. That was from years ago. It's unfortunate ignorant people continue to perpetuate these outdated insturctions without even checking AMD's official site.
-
With the new Nvidia drivers, you can just install without removing the old. With ATI you still need to uninstall the old driver, when will ATI evolve?
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
...but you don't have to uninstall for ati.
at least you haven't since like 10.6 or so
I mean people still say to do it but whatever.
you also don't have to restart windows. -
I will try this, I will take one for the team
-
Installed this on my X120e over 11.4... which was installed over 11.3... which was installed over 11.2. No issues that I've observed at all.
-
It's always been best practice to do a clean install for amd drivers.
I always find odd video glitches on doing upgrades that get quickly resolved by a simple clean install.
Been getting them since Cat 9, and I been encountering them on my x1000, 4000, 5000 and 6000 series.
Nvidia made it easier by adding the clean install option. -
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
yeah. though you're not supposed to clean install stuff with switchable graphics, or at least not all of it.
otherwise you end up losing switchable graphics.
Also for at least my envy 14 I can't go from HP drivers ---> 11.5
I have to go HP Drivers ---> 11.2 --> 11.5 -
and with some system using driver sweeper can cause you to be unable to reinstall any ati driver at all until you reformat
so far this issue has apeared only on multi gpu system but i'm quite sure it can happens on others -
The newest Driver Sweeper does not cause any issues, it was fixed a few months ago.
-
i have installed HP version 9.11 -> HP 10.1 -> HP 10.3 -> ATI/AMD 10.4 -> 10.8 -> 10.10 -> 10.11 -> 10.12 -> 11.1 -> 11.2 -> 11.3 -> 11.4 -> 11.5, all over the previous versions. no problems, whatsoever. so, given my history, there is no need for me to uninstall/driversweep anything before installing the new version. -
EDIT : Was in page 2
Mjolner I project FTW! -
thank you for the update. Just got Brink, will try on my 6750m
edit*
hmmm shows up at 6600/6700 series under device manager, updated fine but now I cannot overclock. MSI afterburner and ATI tray tools both won't open saying can't recognize or something. Is this because it's a mobility modded driver? 11.5a -
Best OC program EVER.
Also, I am experiencing it too, now it says I have a 6570/5730 lol. -
Going from a very old Catalyst suite to a new one could cause issues, but if its only a month newer is should not cause any problems.
-
This was fixed a couple of versions ago. -
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
I always do a clean installation because every time I didn't I had problems so I just do it by default for quite sometime now
-
I get BSOD on a new driver install if I use express uninstall beforehand. If I just install a new version over the existing one - works without any problems.
-
brink wouldn't load using the 11.5a mobility mod. Gave me an OpenGL error on load in a console log window. Went back to bootcamp's 11.2 drivers and Brink runs fine, no problems. And I can OC haha
-
I always install over old drivers and havent had an issue yet, also don't restart windows, generally after im done with the day and i shut down the lappy.
-
I have switchable graphics on my new dv6...
I was wondering how I am supposed to update the drivers, and if there are any specific steps i need to follow in order not to lose the switchable graphics option?
could anyone who has experience with this please enlighten me?
thanks in advance -
Just make sure you don't wipe with driver sweeper.

H.A.L. 9000 Occam's Chainsaw
Thank God. I had soooo many issues with Blu-Ray's and 1080p video in general. Lots of pixelation, and PowerDVD11 is unusable. Hope this fixes that.

The hotfix now includes mobility cards from the official download link ... enjoy
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
The hotfix still doesn't fix the lagging right corner bug.
-
-
Star Forge Quaggan's Creed Redux!
So the 11.5a Hotfix didn't really fix anything significant then did it?
-
Unfortunately yes, but It does fix some other things, lol, not important ones though.
-
MahmoudDewy Gaming Laptops Master Race!
It's important for those who play brink so unless you play that game the update is a waste
-
MagusDraco Biiiiiiirrrrdmaaaaaaan
..actually 11.5a doesn't fix brink either.
at least not for me (it makes it a little bit worse/there's no change)
