official beta from AMD channel means should be better than leaked beta/modded?

AMD Catalyst 12.6 WHQL And Catalyst 12.7 Beta Now Available

AMD has released two new drivers today, Catalyst 12.6 WHQL and Catalyst 12.7 Beta. AMD Catalyst 12.6 has a laundry list of fixes and offers up AMD Dual Graphics Technology profiles for the following Direct X9 games: Call of Duty Black Ops, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Diablo 3, Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, Portal 2 and StarCraft 2. The supported dual graphics configurations are AMD's Radeon HD 7660D (A10-5800K), HD 7660D (A10-5700), HD 7560D (A8-5600K) and the HD 7560D (A8-5500). Linux also gets some love with SLED 11 SP2 and RHEL 5.8 operating systems now being supported. All in all a stable driver that passed WHQL certification and gains some new Dual Graphics profiles for AMD's Trinity APUs, add in a little Linux love and it looks like a promising release.

That shouldn't be an issue. The 12.7 beta should have all the fixes that the 12.6 has.

Finally looked at the release notes. They specifically mention no switchable graphics support, so I suppose we have to use the double install method on Clevo machines, as expected.

I've installed them as well after a clean uninstall along 12.7 cap1.
No changes in 3dmark11, I've benched with 965/1500 and I've got same scores as 979/1550.
I guess if I could push it further I could achieve higher scores.
Played straight 1 hour of binary domain, so far so good.
I didnt tested Skyrim as yet but I'll do in a couple of minutes.

Skyrim still got the graphical glitches like the compass and bars...but perfomance improved dramtically.

Looking down the staircase from dragonsreach does steady 60fps.

Ultra preset, 8xAA, 16xAF with HD textures installed. VRAM used is 1575mb / gpu at stock.

I dont know the dual method, but i guess it is something like that:

    - install clevo drivers
    - install new betas on top, hit customize installation, select only display driver
    - reboot

    now should it work.
As for the "clean" method, look at the link in my signature.

Kingpin im on another thread that you are on about throttlestop 3.0 to stop throttling.

I ran BF3 All High settings but can't get over 20 FPS, I know the Intel 4000 couldn't even do that so I know its the 7970m, but it must be being throttled massively.

I couldn't uthse e 3.0 version from tech inferno, it said that my CPU not supported ??

So what is the general consensus with these drivers for Clevo users? I'm downloading the 12.7 beta official right now. Is the 12.6 official preferable?

UPDATE: Just installed 12.7 beta. So far so good, but I can't do some real tests until lunchtime.

i installed the 12.7 beta from ati.com. definetly makes some of my games run better but out of curiosity how are you guys getting 3dmark11 to run on these. it wont work, even at stock clocks. i get 3/4 of the way through scene 4 (whichever one is the statue at night) and then it backs out to desktop and i get a "workload error" popup. do i need to reinstall 3dm?

My biggest problem is that the stock Clevo drivers won't even install to give me switchable, I did one time and then it failed after a while and I had to reboot and sys restore/clean install the drivers and it wouldn't allow me too -_- BSOD or black screen.

So how can I possibly get graphics switching to work then -_- It seems im always stuck on Intel 4000

The same way everyone has told me. Wipe clean the drivers, install the stock (the one that supports Enduro), install 12.7 beta with everything unselected except for "display drivers" and the default checked ones, and then restart the computer. I didn't install the CAP, BTW. Just the 12.7 beta "display drivers" overlapping my stock Clevo (12.3, I believe).

For the clean wipe you just used driver sweeper or did you do it in safe mode also? I can't get mine going right -_- my computer doesn't like me installing the stock drivers rofl

Actually, I never had to do a fresh install because when I screwed up the drivers in my only other attempt, I decided to just use restore to a previous date. But yeah, driver sweeper should do it depending on which one you use. I believe both recommend you to go through safe mode? I forgot. I haven't used those in a long time.

everyone and their grandpa on these formums has told me too O_O?

There are even guides by kingpinzero saying to use it.

I am going to try one last FULL REINSTALL of windows on my SSD.
Then doing Chipset, Restart, then AMD drivers.

    And seeing if that works.

Does anyone know if the SSD will format itself upon reinstall of windows? I heard that it does and you cant do full format so that quick format is best

I did, and I am pretty pissed considering I haven't been able to do anything other than the internet with this $1600+ computer -_-.

I told them I"d like a replacement sent asap, as I've already waited since my pre order date of May 1, and they told me I'd have it a month ago; I just got it 3 days ago -_-.

And now it shows up and I can't even play games or use photoshop or run 3dmark or anything. Pretty pathetic.

Going to have to disagree with you on that one. Your 3DMark11 score is about 700 points low. Your physics score is okay, but the graphics and combined scores are 15-20% below the expected levels. How are Unigine and games running on your system?

I don't believe we can impute low 3DMark11 scores to Enduro. Power settings and certain drivers, perhaps, but generally 3DMark11 has been utilizing the 7970m at ~99%.

The good news (at least from my perspective) is that, according to Notebookcheck's GTX 680m review, Alienware laptops running Enduro and the 7970m produce benchmark/game results virtually identical to those of Clevo machines. This suggests that AMD has a widespread issue to address. If the forming trend holds, other Enduro products will have similar symptoms. That, in turn, means there will be a lot of unhappy people if AMD does not improve their switchable graphics support.

In conclusion: widespread problem --> more likely to be recognized by the manufacturer --> good probability that the manufacturer will fix the problem.

Well, the truth is there isn't a hiccup so far for me. Yes, it's a hundreds of points lower but everyone who used the leaked and modded has reported better gaming experience despite lower scores.

I just posted the 3DMark11 scores to show fenryr that it does work since he's having problems finishing up the tests. I don't really care about scores as long as the beta works with no problems. At least I know AMD is on the right track.

Hrm well if it doesn't affect performance as FirePro and Radeon have different drivers, then honestly I don't care. FirePro are based off Radeon cores, but as long as it doesn't interfere with gaming performance it isn't a huge issue.

Nope, no adverse effect on performance. I just did the inf rename so games and other applications still see it as 5800 series incase the name change messed with some settings.

I dont think its actually installing the firepro driver anyway, its just a naming error in inf, because the product code which reads firepro 7820 in 12.7 beta has always been HD 5800 series in previous releases.

    I got a boost of ~50 points in 3dmark 11 with 12.7 beta over 12.6 beta

Where do people install their drivers? In the default 'Program Files' or the 'Program Files (x86)?

I ask because on the CCC install section, the default destination the "ATI Technologies" folder does not already exist, in which it insists on creating one. Yet, on my M17x-R4 there is an existing "ATI Technologies" folder already located in my 'Program Files (x86)' directory.
