Awesome, the unofficial driver didn't want to work on my Envy for some reason. Hope this works.

 

It's actually an older version. I would wait for Benchmark3D to post the modded one for 25Jun12 BETA.

As soon as 10 people with a similar system to mine run these without issues I might give them a try.

 

Hahahaha. My thoughts exactly. I don't mean to sound like a whimp, but my "gaming" computer has suddenly become too important to me. I'm even tolerating the crazy dead pixels in the upper right area each day!

 

I've been out of the loop for a long time and new to these boards, but what's the difference?

 

The modded drivers will work with 7970m. I'm using them now in my laptop.

The official beta's might work with the 7970m, but i haven't looked at the INF file so I can't tell you 100% that this is the case

 

This is the first official beta that supports hd 7970m in the INI.
Check guru3d thread, theres a list of supported cards.

 

I looked at it, and it does support the 7970M.

 

Oh, okay. It was my understanding that the latest from 12.7 already supported the 7970M. I guess I read wrong which is why I was confused as to why a modded version existed. Thanks for clarifying.

the modded version is old now, don't use it. Aparently these(released now june 25) support the 7970m.

Re-included atipdlxx.dll and atipdl64.dll into the package (better support with 3rd party tools)

Application profiles... the M18x CF boys are going to want to take a look at these drivers.

 

Does CAP really work on games anyway? I don't know how I use it. Can anyone help?

 

Has anyone tried these guys out yet? im interested in how they perform... also is it a complete package or should i install just the display driver?

 

I'm running them. It eliminated the kdbsync. Exe error I was getting. Haven't done anything with them yet though.
Basically I have nothing to add.

 

Will that be better or more stable than the modded 12.7? Im using the modded one and thinking if ill give a try on this.

 

A modded version of this new driver will probably be releasing in a day or two @ BenchmarK3D - Games Benchmarks and Analysis ..

 

The new ones seem to be more stable while ocing, than previous 12.7's. Still nothing like the 12.5's

 

How are the new drivers for games like Skyrim or Arkham City?

25Jun12 Modded BETA Drivers: AMD Catalyst 8.981.2.1 12.7 Beta June 25 – BenchmarK3D

 

Installed display driver only - Rebooted then ran 3Dmark11 on stock settings (850/1200) - BSD. Rolled back to 12.5 , re-ran 3DMark11 ok. Something not right with these drivers and clevo....

 

DId you do a clean install?

 

Those are the same stock official beta drivers. They are not modded.

 

I've tried both paths. Custom first, then rolled back, then clean install. Neither worked.

 

thats a full install. did you try doing everything instead of just the CCC?

 

Hmm at least things are moving foward. Hopefully we will have our hands on a fully functional whqrl driver from AMD soon.

If your 7970M works stably now then leave it. Not worth the hassle upgrading driver just to change it again when the official deal comes out.

 

Under custom I have "Catalyst is already installed and up to date", which cannot be unchecked....

 

so this driver is no good then?

 

won't give any performance boost or stabilization...

lol i have reformatted 3 times from screwed up drivers... im pretty sure you are in the same boat... im stickin with stock until i know something works! that being said... who is a glutton for punishment that wants to test this?

 

if someone lends me a clevo laptop, i'd more than happily do the test lol
