Hi all,
I recently spotted a new R9 M395X. Seems like it may be a rebrand or "refresh" of the R9 M295X. Sad thing is the R9 M295X hasn't even been out for long (Hell, I cant even find a R9 M295X that supports MXM 3.0b or Xfire).

I really do hope that this comes out as a competition for the GTX 980M, Nvidia has one share too big.
P.S. Can anyone even find an MxM R9 M295X and whether it supports crossfire?

Really hope amd gets some presence back in laptop graphics area... It's dreadful, anything with dedicated graphics is nvidia except very few exceptions...

R9 m295x MXM
And I'm not sure who has used two of them or not. -
should have one or two new workstation card~
-
Wait till intel starts making their own dGPUs....
-
They already tried and failed, twice, in the last 20 years with i740 and Larrabee. So I highly doubt it.TomJGX likes this.

295x only appears in imac and tdp is 125. if imac is using enduro then have chance to put it onto notebook with enduro.

The 15 R1 has the R9 m295x / R9 m390x (same GPU) as well. Not as high clocked, but still.
-
oh thats the last amd gpu available in ailenware?
-
The R9 m395x is an option for the 15 R2, so to respond to your question, no.
The next Apple iMac 27" might also be use the R9 m395x, if the rumors are true. -
i didnt notice until you told me. its $150 cheaper than 980m
-
anyone have seen any benchmarks for m395x? interesting how it compares to 970m/980m really.
-
Since it's not out yet, I doubt we'll see benchmarks until later this month or next month. Even then, it was hard finding benchmarks for the R9 m295x since 3DMark doesn't have the GPU in its database (last time I searched). It'll probably be as hard to find one for the m395x.

I'm quite sure the 970M won't have trouble beating it... The 295MX could hardly keep with a stockish 970M and mine goes like a banshee.. 9600 Firestrike GPU score... Quite close to a 980M so heh AMD has no chance....
-
It's depressing how amd is behind and they don't seem to be anywhere close atm... Fury x is nice, but most people rather opt for a 980 or the 980 ti, nothing to be excited about on portable side at all... Only found out recently they have graphics switching technology similar optimus, but there's no information on it. I'd really hate them go under but really, doesn't even seem they're trying for the market share or to be competitive anymore...

their market share only 18%
-
not that recent though. Their igpus are getting better and better and they have access to smaller nm. intel is already beasting it up in the SSD market. They could make a better gpu than amd if they really wanted too is what i'm saying. They have the money and engineers. It's not like they aren't capable of figuring out how to make a good dGPU.
-
Yet you forget that every generation the % improvement in dGPUs continues to outpace that of iGPUs. So no, I don't think Intel is capable of making a good dGPU. All the process advantage, money, and R&D in the world won't make them competitive with Nvidia and AMD, not with the decades head start they have. Intel's driver team and ISV/game dev relations are also a huge question mark. Intel is synonymous with crappy integrated graphics and always will be, it really doesn't matter what they do because they will never overcome that stigma in gamers' minds. Plus I don't believe dGPU is even on Intel's radar, they have other priorities that don't exactly cater to enthusiasts *cough cough*.
And how exactly is Intel "beasting it up" in the SSD market? They haven't been relevant in consumer SSDs for years. Unless you're talking about enterprise stuff. -
nvme and pcie ssds and their new ssd they announced last week that'll be insane. their consumer sata 3 ssds are overpriced imo.
-
my other option for my next build was going to be the samsung sm951 m.2 drive. that would be better right?
-
If hot, throttled performance under sustained load requiring active cooling to reach full potential is your calling card, then yes
-
what exactly counts as fully sustained load. ive seen the insane videos showing their heat. do they throttle their speed down? and what kind of task uses a SSD at 100 percent for several minutes?
-
Ask in the Batman lounge where ppl are trying them out. Also here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/samsung-sm951.781057/
Worse than SATA III 4K QD1 perf plus overheating and throttling sounds like SM951 shouldn't even be in consideration at all.jaybee83 likes this.
