AMD will be introducing a new custom slider and profile system for tessellation in 11.1 Drivers.

This doesn't mean all games you should use tessellation, there is some performance issues still to smooth out, performance gain isn't incredible, but hopefully with Tessellation profiles that will change in future driver releases.
    - Tessellation profiles are not out yet. But the tessellation slider does work! So if you have TWGMP game where you only get presets for DX11, you still want DX11 shadows, shading etc, but not the tessellation, you can override that preset!

This mean you can now set how much tessellation you want just as you for can for AA and AF. So before anyone says the typical Nvidia BS, we do it with everything in games. Custom settings for SSAO, HBAO, Shadow Levels, Texture Levels, Anistropic Filtering, Anti-Aliasing. Now AMD will allow gamers to do the same for Tessellation.

Personally if some Nvidia person feels, AMD fails blah blah. I'd be jealous of AMD since that means I, the user, has control over tessellation, not some coporate bigwig at Nvidia who just wants to market his card over AMD, at direct expense of Nvidia's own customer's gaming experience.

Wait, there is an option to control HBAO, Shadow levels and SSAO in 11.1? My God, not only AMD is evolving in HW and its price, now the software is awesome!

Thanks for sharing, I like all the shading and the super shiny shadows, but
    not like tesselation :D

No you can't. But my point is for example in BC2, gamers already make custom settings for HBAO, Shadowing etc. The point is there is precedence for overriding suggested settings with your own custom setting. Crysis players are constantly using different custom settings where you can go into finite detail over every feature.

Point of me writing that is I know Nvidia fanboys will say this is AMD failure and degradation of quality and not the way game is meant to be played etc etc. And my point is, gamers already do custom settings for just about every feature in a game, so tessellation should be no different.

So, in other words, AMD can do no wrong, and nVidia is utterly evil.

    All righty. Moving along.

they are both huge corporations. AMD is *NOT* fighting the good fight for the little guy. obviously, this is a nice little tweak feature. it is not "game-changing". and, no, the "nvidia fanboys" aren't streaming in on the scent of an AMD feature. it's a nice, very small feature.

I just don't see the conclusion from this, that all the "Nvidia bigwigs" are trying to compromise the gaming experience of nvidia owners :p

I think your own fanboy is showing.

I'm just wondering when 11.1 is going to be released. I was waiting all this month for drivers, and all that came was that hotfix.

But how to make the custom settings? Through the game or CCC?

To set your own custom limitation or setting for Tessellation it will be in the CCC to override game settings. Same as AA/AF. AMD will also at a later point include tessellation profiles. This will not be in 11.1 yet.

No, that part I understand, but I mean the SSAO, HBAO, etc... Those settings are custom through the game or CCC?

Tessellation is really old .. it was there a lot of years ago.
Died out .. it's no need for it .. better if it is implemented by the game itself to be only used on a few things and not on everything.
If it's on every model then it will kill performance.
