Will this help a novice laptop gamer like me overclock my system and increase performance?

I have used Overdrive on my desktop (780G motherboard, Phenom 8750 tricore, Using integrated HD3200 GPU), and it works as advertised.
As far as I know, if your system doesn't have an AMD/ATI motherboard and AMD processor, Overdrive doesn't work. I'm not even sure it works on any laptops at all.
Otherwise, in my experience it works pretty well. I got a decent 150 Mhz system overclock using the very simple slider bar. With the "autoclock" I got almost a 400 MHz overclock (2.4 to 2.8 GHz) along with slightly tighter timings on my decent 1066 DDR2 RAM. It is all very simple to use and such. I manually set the GPU in the BIOS from about 500MHz to 900MHz and it gave me a decent boost in performance (definitely not almost double, but still a noticeable 10 FPS in games). -
500mhz to 900mhz are your sure 80% overclocks even with added Vcore are rare?

I didn't reach that level, but I got close. It helps that I have an Antec 900 with 6 120mm fans and 1 200mm fan.
AMD Overdrive, will it help?
