Ya if I still used IGPs i would go with the 780G because it looks so fast...but I have my X205-SLi4 now so I don't have to worry about IGP wars since I have 2 8600M GTs that play HL2 on max.

Fantastic video. The 780G really is quite the chipset (in the desktop as well).

AMD is FINALLY beating up Intel SOMEWHERE! Integrated Chipsets!

    AMD: 1
    Intel: 0

No more GMA915 or GMA950 crap.

X3100 was nice, but this is really raising the bar.

Maybe that's not an important news to us, gaming enthusiasts, as most of people here have dedicated vgas on their laptops/desktops... BUT, you oughta remember that we're the minor part of the pc consumers... in the sense that IGP's sellings represent more than 70% of the whole industry income!

Thus, this new chipset could be excatly what AMD needed to get itself out of the bankrupt way.

    What do you say?

But you also have to see that this 70% doesn't really give a **** about performance either [which is why they settle for IGP in the first place]. Of course unless AMD can do some marketing trick to make the common consumer care. :p

    actually they will.

They're just gonna say their notebooks have a 3x times better overall 3D performance than Intel IGP's.

And at this time they won't be lying! :D

Oh, and they are going to cost less than the crap Intel wants to sell, so thats how they appeal to the consumer. As long as the AMD bashers aren't manning the phones and the best buy counter.

With as many models are being launched in June (100+), you have to think the retailers saw something they liked. That may not be a whole lot, but its a whole lot more than AMD has seen before for laptops.

It will be no more than the Intel one, but I won't be surprised to see a defeatured one for the budget models (as they have now).

You got a good point, but if the consumers who settled for the IGP in the first place doesn't care about performance, they probably won't rush out to get an AMD laptop anytime soon Unlike the gamers who often replace old part with new gen hardwares in order to keep up with games, these consumers have no incentives to do so.

I would think - strictly speculation - that the e.g. Best Buy salespeople would start pushing the new AMD platform as soon as it hits the street - so it/they will sell well. Many of the big laptop vendors - at least H-P, ASUS and Toshiba - have AMD proc laptops on the market now. I'm not sure about Dell. I think this is great news because even the 3100 has trouble running Ghost Recon from 2001. Competition is good!
