    Hello to all,

    I’ve tried to seek Dell for help but had no success at all, not even in the forum. I’m hoping to find some light in here.

    Also, I’ve posted a more detailed analysis in the Dell session here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...gaming-and-general-performance-issues.832801/

    Follow the Specs below:
    • Dell Inspiron 5570 model
    • Windows 10 Pro (64Bits)
    • Dell 0X34T0 (A01) Motherboard
    • Intel Core i7-8550U CPU @1.80GHz (8th GEN)
    • Intel UHD Graphics 620
    • AMD Radeon 530 Graphics (4GB)
    • 8GB RAM
    • 1TB Western Digital HDD
    • BIOS Version: 1.2.5
    Since week one, I have been struggling from time to time when it comes to performance. Even when just using Google Chrome with a certain amount of open tabs, using Microsoft Office, or trying to run a game in low-performance settings. The laptop not only struggles with CPU/GPU temperature - in the last scenario - but sometimes with HD/RAM and GPU 100% usage (red alert).

    I’ve tried to run WoW Classic late in 2019 and managed to play in the super low settings, no AMD boost, with an average of 95% GPU usage, an 85-90 degrees Celsius temperature, and FPS instability for a couple of months. Nothing else running in the background. The game glitched many times, especially during raiding, sometimes not responding, and it was true hell trying to even play it, so I gave up.

    Recently, I’ve decided to try again other MMO games, like Guild Wars 2 and Counter-Strike. Even with the lowest settings possible, many effects off, VSync Off, no AMD boost, different energy modes tests, no other open software, some of those game didn’t even make to the first 10 minutes of playing without increasing the temperature to near 90 degrees Celsius, glitching and stop working with a CPU/GPU 100% usage - especially GPU.

    After a lot of research, I’ve disabled some Windows options, changed the power mode options, updated every single drive, always keep the room temperature chilly (around 19 degrees Celsius), use a Cooler Pad with 2 large fans, but nothing seems to make it right.

    Here is a quick list of what I have tried so far (alone and combined):
    • Updated the BIOS and every software and Driver possible direct from the manufacturer's website;
    • Different Power Plans (Balanced and High) altering the Processor Power Management to 80%-90%, PCI Express, and other options;
    • Fully uninstalled every Microsoft software allowed and Dell software;
    • Disabled background programs running in Windows;
    • Disabled Windows animations and visual effects;
    • Disabled the Xbox Game Bar in Windows;
    • Disabled Intel Turbo Boost in the BIOS settings;
    • Disabled SysMain in Windows Services;
    • Ran the Windows Defender and Windows Troubleshoot;
    • Cleaned %temp% files;
    • Optimized Hard Drive (0% fragmented)
    I’ve also tried to use performance software to tune, control, and boost CPU, GPU, Fan Speed, and RAM, but none worked and some didn’t even recognize the hardware.

    After some of those tries, I’ve managed to control a bit better the overall temperature and performance, but not even close to being able to run any games.

    Are those graphic cards any good? Does someone have any good feedbacks to add? Should I give up?

    I’m exhausted, but willing to give this one last try.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hello, Ed. Thanks for the tip. I've watched that video before.

    I understand that those graphic cards are not ideal, and will hit 90% to 95% of GPU usage. But maybe what I've failed to mention is that even in the lowest settings, the games just glitch a lot and most of the time, just freezes.

    In that video, it seems that a lot of titles are very playable. In my case, I simply can't play a quite amount of those due to performance issues.

    The GPU is not great, so I wouldn't expect stellar performance, however, there are a few things you could do.

    Have you tried downloading and installing latest AMD drivers for your GPU? That could resolve your problems with glitching.
    You can find them here: https://www.amd.com/en/support/graphics/radeon-500-series/radeon-500-series/radeon-530

    If you do that, use the AMD cleanup utility before installing latest drivers: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601
    It will remove previous/outdated AMD drivers completely from the OS and give you a clean slate (oh and make sure to DISABLE Windows ability to automatically download and update GPU drivers.

    Also, in regards to your temperatures... the fist things I could recommend in this regard would be to clean out your laptop internals from dust and try re-applying your own thermal paste to the CPU and GPU (such as GE-LID GC Extreme or Kryonaut).
    Second, you might try undervolting your CPU using Intel XTU:

    Hello, Deks. Thanks for your reply!

    Yes, I did update it to the recommended version 20.2.2 using the AMD website. About the cleanup, I will try to reinstall it using it first, now with the Windows option properly disabled.

    I will more about the undervolting option. Thanks!

    On the drivers, as I said, disable Windows from automatically updating your drivers (you can also disable the Wifi while you do this) and run AMD cleanup utility and do a fresh install of drivers.

    If the thermals are a problem like you mentioned, then your best bet is to open the laptop, clean out the dust from the fans and air vents and of course do a fresh application of thermal paste on the CPU and GPU (using GC Gelid Extreme or Kryonaut).

    Usually, laptop manufacturers tend to apply thermal paste in a rather shoddy manner which increases thermals unnecessarily... combining that with undervolting should be good.
