I have heard that the AMD Radeon 7970M has had some performance issues on Sager laptops. I haven't heard anything new about if it has been fixed or not.

I'm trying to decide between getting a nVIDIA 680M or the Radeon 7970M. If I can save $200+ dollars, I would like to.

Have they fixed this issue yet? Thanks.

The problem is Clevo laptops cannot disable IGP thus resulting in poor performance. Alienware laptops can turn off the IGP and don't have issues. As Mobius has stated, a driver fix coming out should fix the issue very shortly.

From multiple sources, the driver should be out in a week or less. And just an FYI to others, it's a hotfix, meaning it's a stop-gate, it's something to help us until the next official driver is out.

Also would like to add, that AMD is still optimizing drivers for the 7xxx series. The GCN core is a big departure from their previous, with a big emphasis on GPGPU, as AMD's focus is on parallel processing. So we may see some performance improvements still even after they resolve the switchable issue.
