AMD and steam are partnered up for windows driver updates. Doesn't work with Nvidia (or intel - but they don't really count anyway)

How does that work, then? Would it work with a laptop with switchable graphics? What version does it update? You said "windows driver updates", does that mean it's just the same driver you'd get if you let Windows Update do it? If so, no thanks, but if I can get a 2012 AMD driver with switchable graphics on my 2010 Envy 14 by clicking a button, I'm all in!

Yeah, they implemented AMD/ATi graphics driver updates into Steam a while ago; probably at least a year ago by now. All my computers use nVidia, though, so I can't comment on how well it works.

I just meant that the agreement was between Valve (steam) and AMD, for delivering driver updates in windows. It has nothing to do with "Windows Update" - that is completely different. You can use steam to install the latest AMD driver, not whatever driver is being used by windows update.

I have no idea whether it works with switchable graphics, but it's the same driver you would get from AMD directly. So, if their driver works, it will work. If the normal drivers from their site won't work, then it won't.
